Default Eviction question

What happens to you when you get evicted. I'm trying to figure out my options to get out of my lease as I can't afford it now that the ex is gone. I've already gotten one notice but paid the late fees and rent to stay. They want 60 days notice plus an extra months rent to get out early. My lease is up on may 21. Would it really hurt me that much if I get evicted as I can't afford it anyways? I've never been in this far over my head before. And now i'm losing sleep over it as it's 4 am.

Try to stay you will have to pay anyway . You could leave but they will take you to court and you will owe the rest of the rent .

I just left an apartment when I was 18 an it cost me 6000 bucks. It might be different now but I don't think it would change much.

Try to find a roommate .

Stay if at all possible or even try to sub lease the space. It can turn into a long costly ordeal and be put on your credit and no one will rent to you.

Explain the situation. The lease is almost up so they will not be loosing much money. Try to make payment arrangements if they want to charge you a fee.

Some were in here I beleive he may still have the loss of sleep problem.

Although if you rent to a female things might turn for the good and you may want to resign the lease.

If your ex is on the lease with you then she is legally reponsible to pay her half of the rent

But the apartment complex will still go after you as you are the easiest target.

check to see if you can sub lease and advertise the apartment. check craigslist out i know a few people that have had luck on there. Being a land lord it sometime sucks but we never hold our tenants feet to the fire if they can t afford it, thants just dumb. Reduced rent is better than no rent. They could come after you but the court is in your favor.

Just move and let them take you to court...it's easy to get out of a lease, the best way is to say noisy neighbors or traffic noise was disrupting your quiet enjoyment time. You have the right to have a quiet residence and if they cannot provide you with that you have the right to break the lease...my uncle is a lawyer and got us out of a lease before using that defense.

if you get evicted, you can sometimes have a hardtime renting later.

These ^^^

And, just talk to your landlords, they'll usually make a deal of some sort, especially since it's only a few months, as others have said.

Talked to them. They won't budge on the lease. Ex isn't on the lease. Don't plan on renting ever again. Already have a place to live. Not too worried about it going on my credit report as I have a bunch of scars on it now.

In MI if you leave they will have to follow through with the eviction process to legally get the property posession but if they can not serve you the papers in person or to a tenant on the lease they can not collect a money judgement in court.

They will not know where you have moved to unless you change your license. If the ex was on the lease did she change her license.

Just understand that they can take this to court and have it entered as an unpaid debt on your credit history. My buddy is a landlord and has had people come back 10+ years after doing a midnight pack and scram to repay the rent. They try to buy a house and can't get a mortgage because of that unpaid debt. Don't think that this can't come back to haunt you. Employers also pull credit reports. Unpaid rent doesn't look to good to potential employers when you explain it to them....
