Default Jeep 4.7L Stroker

Hey guys/gals.... New to the sight... Hello....

I hope this post has not been beat to death and apologize if it has. I am in the market for a new engine in my 2000 XJ and am leaning toward the stroker (4.7L), the cost is almost double and wondering if the bang is worth the buck? I have seen the HP/Torque numbers and they look promising, but just wondering if the $$$ spent is really worth it.
This is a daily driver rig, so fuel economy and all that plays a factor.
Also wondering if anyone knows of any local builders that specialize in building these versus ordering online?? Local to Detroit, MI....

Thanks,

Ugly

Are they worth the money - yes, if you have that kind of money sitting around.

I wouldn't bother ordering one offline unless you order from Hesco. A lot of the other builders out there (Titan, Hammerhead, etc) cut a lot of corners to achieve that cost number you see and still make a profit. If you source the parts yourself and have a reputable local builder do the machine work you can get a quality stroker for what you'd pay Titan, Hammerhead, etc.

My 00 WJ is my daily driver has a 4.6L stroker that I built and I love it. If your building it yourself cost is not that much more. It's the difference of a $100-$200 dollars to pick up rods and a crankshaft, everything else is the same. PM me if you have any questions. I still have a lot of parts left over if you are interested.

get in touch with "Jiri" here on GL4x4. He has a new 4.6l "Tommy C's Offroad" stroker for sale for a good price.

My.02, a stroker is the ticket for a Jeep. Upgrading to a 4.6 was hands down teh best upgrade i have down to my jeep, and first on the list for the next one i build....

any way, PM "Jiri" let him know Randy from SMR sent you his way, he should be home from vacation monday.

Jiri is unavailable for the next week or so ... you can PM me if you're interested in the motor at TommyC's.
