Default 94 yj project

Ok i just picked this up thursday. its not to bad its got some rust and the top is shot. but its a good starter.it has a 2.5 5speed. i just bought a mig today and some metal and im gonna learn how to weld!!!!! plans are is 4in rough country lift 35's flat fenders and custom bumpers. but ill have more pics of the progress this weekend. when i start

35s on a 2.5L isnt going to be fun. Mine has 33's and is a 2.5l and it takes like 10 mins to get u to 60 and then it maxes out at like 70 lol. going to regear?

its got 4.10's now. im used to takin 10mins to 60 lol my ranger with the stock 2.9 5speed 3.55's on 33's that was a dog lol

just went thru a 92 yj new floor pans etc...check out my resto, lots of fun and headache all at the same time...good luck, enjoy!....hope you have a warm garage!

Welding isnt bad, I quickly learned; I just looked at the chart that was stuck on the welder and messed around with the setting til it would sound right. Oh and clean metal is always good. The Jeep doesnt look as bad as what I started with.

And what I learned from the body cut out what you can trace onto new metal, that is a lot easier that trying to measure everything.

ya i went to harbor freight and got the cheap welder 90 amp 110v flux core but im 17 and not alot of money so ill learn off it and get somthin better when i figure it out.

ok no pics right now but i scored a hard top in perfect shape at the junk yard for $55. its so much nice not having the soft top.now i just have to find hard doors

well i tryed out the new welder and got the grinder out and found more rust than i thought. i got the driver side hole done. i know the welds arnt that good but im just learning. ill have pics up when i get outta school cant download them here

keep working at it! You learn as you go. i did basically the same project when i was 16 (85 Cj7) You learn as you go. You'll probably end up redoing a bunch of it in a few years(even if its good, youll want to make it better) Just remember to have fun with it!

I've got the same thing. '94 YJ 2.5L I started out years and years ago and built it up. I eventually tackled the rust holes...the worst one was in the same place as your first repair. Best of luck to you...I love my Jeep for playing.

man it seems like all of those wranglers rust in the same spot. my brother has a 92 yj and it has the same hole (under the jeep logo) joslovandikai had real good advise: have fun with it learn as you go. cool project
