I have a TomTom but it's not always with me. I also find the TomTom almost always is a minimum of a couple hundred yards away from the destination, sometimes over .5 mile. For times I don't have my GPS I always use Mapquest, I can't remember the last time it had an error that I noticed.

fixed.

Thanks Rainman.

Maps app on my iphone, which is powered by google maps. Haven't had a problem yet. I also keep a tom tom in the glove box if needed.

I have found that while traveling in Northern Michigan, I would rarely get a signal from AT&T, rendering my phone useless. Then it's time to rely on satellites for the Tom Tom.

Between the two, I haven't had an issue yet...

I always used Mapquest when traveling for work. I got sick of trying to read directions while driving in the dark so I broke down and got a Garmin.

I have had garmins get me just as lost as using mapquest. I just look at the road signs and maps. Anyone remember those?

I call and get directions, then cross reference them by looking up the address on the map and backtracking the directions to where I am. Getting an 18 wheeler down a residential street in Chicago and finding a low clearance is soooo not fun, I do the same thing most of the time when I am in a car going to a strange place, unless I know the area.

Just under 7' and if you think "there are no bridges under 7' you haven't been to New York :soincjay: Places like twisted and R&V have directions on the web sight, or I've gone with people that know where the place is, so no need to call but other peoples houses or somewhere to meet someone. Around Grand Rapids I'm fine because I know the area, but its pretty rare that I just look a place up online, Ive gotten too many bad directions that way (streets that don't go though or routes to though a place where the natives eyeball you hungrily) so I don't even bother anymore.
