Default good speakers

what are some small, but very good quality computer speakers? some that would fit into my laptop bag (which is fairly big).

good sound
somewhat of a bass without a sub

price: somewhat low, hoping would be a xmas gift

You can get some very small speakers with good sound... but they won't be cheap, and they won't have any Bass. I have JBL Creatures and the sats are maybe 4x4x4, but they need the sub to really sound well.

JBL makes a few stereo computer speakers with no sub that sound great... but they are $60 a pair, and stand almost 9" tall.
