Default inconsiderate little punks

well lately is seems stealing mygigs are getting pretty popular. mygigs are chryslers touch screen radios for those who don't know. but anyways i'm seeing more and more of them, stolen that is. and it's a pain in the ass to repair all of them especially when they just rip the shit apart and cut the harnesses. chrysler doesn't offer the actual connectors so you have to pull the entire dash and replace the dash harness. or like the 300 i just finished today, the harness is on something like a 3 month back order because they don't have someone to put it together. and the bitch of that one was they didn't cut the radio harness they just cut the am/fm antenna cable. and thats only available with the main harness thats on back order. either way i took care of it but still, pain in the ass. those little bastards need they're damn fingers cut off. and i do realize it's more of an inconvience for the customer but still. end of rant

seems like it would be a PITA to get it to work in something else, so why steal it?

Judging by location are you at Golling or Shuman? lol

Its not just chrysler's getting the touch screens pulled. Was just workin on an '07 suburban from the WB area. Passenger window smashed out (got new paint from the glass chipping the paint). At least whoever did this one had the decency to pull the connectors out instead of cutting everything. They took the center caps and pulled just the lock nuts off each wheel, but didn't take the rims. They even left the flip down screen in the back alone...

Man that sucks, I hate it when they do that. This Firebird I got for free I somewhat got lucky, the radio wires are cut and the dome light is cut out but I think that's it, which is considerably easier to wire than a screen or something. Either way this car was fucked when I got it, but oh well, I can't beat the price.

sounds like they haven't figured out how to unsnap the antenna yet? if you know what your doing it takes about 30 seconds after the radio is free, you have to be nice to the plugs. I change them in dashes at work on our impact sled. we usually have a dummy or a single unit to jump from dash to dash for weight.

they seem to fetch a pretty good price on ebay for what little work you have to do to get them.

It sounds like they need to do some market research since they could apparently make good money selling the back-ordered harnesses. :D

The company that makes the harness is probibly paying the ninjas $10 for each unit they rip out and letting them keep the mygig.

I know of a quick way to get a harness connectors for the radio. I am 99% sure you can get the adapter kit for the mugig and the Fackra antenna adapter as well. it beats waiting for the parts if they are backordered. That is a Yasaki thing as far as the harness goes. They should know that the radios are a high theft part and stock them.

actually the mygig radios are a non bus controller type head unit. it could be put into virtually any car that has the space. which is why people are taking the wiring harness as well, just wire it up like you would any aftermarket deck. ive been looking into getting one.

If my memory is right all mygig radio's come from newer chrysler/jeeps and the cars they come from are all can buss vehicles so there is no ignition feed to the radio the radio turns on with data from can buss so they wont work in any vehicle without the data to turn them on . You could swap one out to a car thats similar year that didnt have mygig syst. all this is a moot point soon anyway because most new cars have radios/computer modules that once initalized into original car it will not work in any other car the vehicles burn vin stamp into bcms and such and the car talks to each module prior to each boot up. Soo cool no more used bcm's cheap from junkyards or ecm's ect I think I'll start buying pre 2005 cars/trucks only now!
