I did change the hood pins to a Moroso captured clip style I've used alot before. Less crap to loose. I also got the recovery jug mounted, just need to plumb it. Pics will come soon.

Just waiting on available funds to get the driveshafts made and build the exhaust. That is about it for now. I also need to put rear brakes on it, there is nothing left of the shoes.

Now, if someone wanted to sponsor my rig..................

Here are some pics of the new goodies.

Hood pin clipped

Unclipped. Nothing to lose.

The new recovery jug.

I'm thinking seriously about getting street rod headers, got the number and dimensions already because I don't think my valve cover gaskets will last long where the manifolds are. Might be 1/8" gap between the two. Both sides have the same gap. I only want to build my exhaust once.

Didn't factory gm motors that came with those manifolds have that same gap? Did they have problems with the gaskets too? Is there some sort of heat shield you could fab up that would fit between there and attach to the valve cover bolts to direct the heat away instead of spending the money on headers? Not that there is anything wrong with headers.

On the engines this type of manifold is from, the valve cover rails are closer to the deck than the TBI centerbolt heads I'm running. These are approx 1/2" taller than the old style heads. I've thought about a 1/4" spacer to pull them away from the heads but then I'll have problems running exhaust with the dump being in the frame rail.

I'll figure something out.

Seen this jeep in person (while checking out Todds junk...sorry "sir"). Looks nice and clean, great install and a perfect shoe horn fit!

The bowtie is a sacraligious emblem though. You should really not advertise the GM parts under the hood! I am waiting to see if the old girl regects the heart transplant!

A little sacraledge is good. You should hear the BMW crowd cry when they see a E30 with a Chevy in it. The bowtie may stay, hard telling.

Haven't done much lately, but I did do a couple things.

Hood struts, they work beautify.

They open the hood further than with the prop rod and hold it open a foot if need be.

Had a set of mid 80's truck manifolds laying around and decided to fit them. Alot better clearance and should make building exhaust a bit better.

I haven't done the pass side yet because I need to pull the trans cooler lines and fab new ones because the outlet on the new manifold dumps where the cooler lines currently are, but once that is done I'll get pics of that.

Slow going now. Still need to come up with the funds for driveshafts, want those in before the exhaust gets done so clearances are right, at least the front.

The truck manifolds won't work, the pass side won't agree with anything. Looks like I'll be getting the Hedmans once tax checks are rolling. I did get a front skid and have that half assed installed. I need to rework where it mounts in the front because my rad also uses those mount holes.

It's not like I'm in a hurry..........

I got my Fed Tax check a few days ago so I'm getting the driveshafts done and I'm getting Hedman shortie headers so I can start working on the exhaust.

Yay for me.

I think I'm still well under $1000.00 for the Jeep and everything this far. I think the headers and shafts will put me to that. When I decide to put a good lift under it, then it will get expensive.

You need to get a lift under it before buying those driveshafts, why change them again afterwards?

Any kind of lift is a year or so away anyway and I wanted some drive time with it to work out bugs and tweak things until all is well. Then I'll go apeshit with a lift.

I'm going to eventually swap a different rear for it and possibly a front, but once it's first form is done, it'll be a driver. After that, who knows.
