Nicely done... but I dont think that the springs and shocks will hold up to 60 plus in the whoops...

It's been taking it like a champ for the past year and a half.....it works AWESOME for an 8000+ lb truck. I had high expectations for it and it definitely surpassed them. Coilovers and air bumps are in the works when funds permit but it definitely gets the job done as-is.

They're there in some of the pics, not in others. I think he'd taken them off to wrap them with something to stop them from rattling around in the wheel. They've been there ever since, but now it's got black wheels because the chrome pitted after like 8 months.

The final launch:

Keep in mind those are 40" tires under an 8' tall truck....the front tires are a good 7' off the ground!

The magazine-worthy shot

The aftermath:

Both axletubes bent and the driverside tube is tearing out of the diff casting. I'm pretty pumped that all the suspension and bracketry I built took it like a champ though! There's a slight bend in the panhard bar but that and the steering will change with the new axle anyway. Next up is a kingpin 60 with a truss from hell and some coilovers. The old truss could only be run to the inside of the huge coil buckets and it bent outside of that, this one will be knuckle to knuckle and possibly top and bottom. It'll get launched again, you can count on that! We're also gonna regear at the same time.
Good times!!

No we usually either rent a house or camp within a couple miles of the dunes....I love Pentwater but I think everybody else likes being closer.

X2

Even with the beefed up suspension, that must have been a hard landing.
