I'd check with some good taxidermists. I know there stuff you can use but some will make the glue pull on older mounts.

i've heard that those steam cleaner things work pretty well for getting weird smells out of stuff, and it shouldn't hurt the mount any

I had a old elk mount of my dads that was in our garage for about 10 years, had really bad mildue and other nasty garage smells, i just used a bunch of frebreze and stuck it outside during the summer and let the wind do the work

Wipe them down with vinegar and water 50/50 solution. Then spray them down with Lysol spray. Either original or fresh linen. Don't saturate them with the water and viegar just wet a cloth and wipe them with the fur.

Take them to a Ozone chamber they will put them in there for a week and the smell will be all gone. When I was in a fire in the dorms at school insurance sent all my stuff to a place in troy and they had big ozone chambers they put everything in.

buy a can of ozium. its supposedly ozone in a can. It works, knocks the smell of cigar out of my apt and Rubi pretty good. Cheap, a big can is like 5-10 bucks.

Why not let the insurance company handle it?

My parents house caught fire back in high school and everything was sent to get ozoned like stated above.
