Green and Jackson - who FDNY sources said are dating - work in the Emergency Medical Service dispatch center in the Metrotech complex, and their offices are directly above the Au Bon Pain where Rennix worked.
"We've known them for years," said Au Bon Pain employee Tareen Brown, 29. "We thought they'd do something ... [but] they said there was nothing they could do."
I dunno about you, but it sounds kinda fishy? these folks work above the bagel shop they go to what sounds like on a daily basis and yet they turned their nose up at helping someone they saw everyday? I think there is more to the story then is being let on? spurned girl friend maybe? family of spurned girl friend? maybe the father of the now dead kid? something don't add up?

Simple, there were on their union break. And they aren't working on their break.

if They have no legal obligation to act if not on duty. I was told by a frends mom that is a certified nurse if she was to ignore a somthing like that and somone found out that she did so she could be held responcible

I agree with what you are saying, but they could have helped her with basic first aid. Sure they didnt have equipment, but they can do the 3 most important things and its not the song. They could have done the abc

Airway (make sure there wasnt anything blocking it)

Breathing (see if she was breathing)

Circulation (check for a pluse)

It is sad that she died and we all know the family would have come looking for free money if they helped and she still died, but doing the abc's just would have helped the responding Emt's give her faster treatment.

Why, the store employees don't have a legal obligation to act
I was just pointing out the poignant legal facts related to the case. I have never passed on a situation where I was able to help. Most EMT's I have worked with will also do all they can whenever they can; to most it's not a job, its a passion. Obviously, it was different with these two.
