Default Aamco transmissions - Waterford. not an awesome company

A guy from my work has digital gauge cluster go out on his silverado. It's just out of warranty, so he called around and Aamco told them they do it all the time, and they also happened to be the best price.

He brought the truck in with 73,000 miles, and he got it back with 274,000 miles and they said it won't hurt resale.

Oh, and when he brought it in, he had gear selection LED's, now he doesn't

And the check engine soon light is on, but just so you know, this happens a lot with gauge cluster swaps, and it will go off soon.

I hate Aamco, they wanted to rebuild the transmission when it only needed to have the bands adjusted.

Wow, did they test-drive it to see of the gauge was working properly? 201,000 miles of testing for quality control...within a few hours...?

Bunchajackasses.

i think it's illegal to tamper with teh odometer on a vehicle....even aamco should know that

he's going to have them put the original cluster back in and then take it to a place that can fix it correctly, right?

Aamco was a scammy chain 29 years ago when I first started driving. When I worked as a tire buster at a Metro 25 in Toledo, Ohio (another scam hole), the manager of the nearby Aamco transmission shop would come in and tell horror stories of the people he ripped off. The place is a shit hole.

They're ordering a gauge cluster from an AUTOMATIC now, and it should be installed tomorrow.

If I remember right, you can sync the PCM and the gauge cluster to re-display the proper mileage that is stored in the computer.

Specmo is where we would send all the guage clusters from the Chevy dealer I worked at. Always seemed to do a good job.
