I just bought an XDM 9 the other week and love it so far. There were two major factors in going with the 9 over the 40. 1) Cost of the gun. It was $100 cheaper for the 9. 2)Cost of Ammo. Blazer Brass 9mm is $15/ 50ct box where 40 was $24/ 50ct box. IN the long run that will save me a lot of money. As far as stopping power, 9mm +p+ in a hollow point ought to do the job when carrying 20 rounds.

Cant say on the 40 Tab, but my 9mm was $505 out the door at Top Gun. I've put quite a few rounds through this with out any problems. Very pleased with the peice. As far as ammo, I havent been having a problem finding any cal. ammo lately. Seems Walmart has the best prices. Just seen 50 round boxes of 9 for $9.95, 40 cal. for $13.95, and 38 special for 11 or 12 I think. All winchester brand.

I have an XDm40 bi-tone. Best gun I have ever owned. They did a great job on designing the grip. It groups really good. I guess it didn't win 2009 gun of the year from the NRA for nothing. I'm planning to get another one and probably an XD45 tactical.

I just got the XD sub 40, and the XD45. I've only shot the 40, and it's a great gun that is well worth the money. I want to find a good comfortable holster for it now. I've been told to go with a good quality leather, and stay away from the plastic, or hard fit holsters. Any advice here? It seems like everyone likes the uncle mikes.

I have an Uncle Mikes neoprene IWB holster. It stays put in my waist, and is very comfortable. Even though its latch-less, it still holds the weapon in place well.

is it a wrap around? Goes around your waist, or mid-section?

This.

It has a velvet-like exterior to make it soft on your skin and to keep it from sliding around, and a nylon lined interior so you can draw easily. Holds the pistol tight, but not too tight to inhibit a smooth draw. The clip has a hook on the end to snag your belt so you wont draw your entire holster. When clipped, only the grip is exposed. $11 at my local gun store.

I just took it out to look at it, its not neoprene, but it looks like it. I think its some kind of padded nylon.

I have the springfield XD .45. Probably 1500 rounds through it at this point and never jammed. The only time you will get a stove pipe on these guns is if you limp wrist them. Very dependable!!!

I have one of these for each of my guns. They can get uncomfortable after a long day, especially in the summer, they will stick to you. I always wear a shirt tucked in behind this so it's not against my skin and it's much better.

Shooting an XD45 sold me on getting a .45 glock instead of a 9mm. All of the higher standard pistols are good guns, and it's all really personal prefrence. Of my two friends i hang out with the most, one carries sig .40 the other carries XD45 and i carry Glock .45. Each one of us loves our guns equally. Cant go wrong with any tried and true pistol! I see we have ALOT of Glock and XD fans on the board too.

If you're really serious about carrying guns of this size around, get one of these.

I have that holster for my XDM and love it.

Pair that with a gun belt and you're set.

x2

Those are great holsters., but leather can hold moisture, and will. Leather will be more comfortable than kydex, but this also worked out very good for me:

It's a local guy too, if you want to keep the money in Michigan

Both have kydex for what holds the pistol, which is good, as you can wash it out with water to avoid minimal wear in your gun from the dirt that gets in there.

It's going to wear either way.

Good luck
