Glad I have Wells fargo then. I've never had these problems unless I caused them.

Paid it off very shortly after (I'm still building my credit). If I'd make a payment on Tuesday, I would get an remail saying it's been received on the following Monday. It would still take 14 ish days to post to my HSBC account, and it came out of MY account, the day after I made it.
But why would when they post it matter? You spent the money and should act like it is gone regardless of its posted or not because guess what is going to happen and you spend more then you have . . .word of the thread "overdraft"

Why is being financially responsible so challenging? Keep a record and you won't get "screwed" by the big bad bank.

As for the after 3 post the next day thing that doesn't apply due to "check21" processing. Saturday transactions will not post until Monday.

Check21 allows the Fed to accept images of checks electronically instead of actually receiving a hard copy of the check. Before Check21 the cut off was at three due to a the checks being sent to an airport and flown to the nearest Fed to be processed. Check21 saved my company 27 million a year, cut out 6 planes, fuel, 2 hangers and all the man hours collecting checks from the banks.

The 3 cut off time want to "screw" you it was a federal guideline that we had to follow. This has no bearing on cash transport which is why I've continually stated a time stamp reciept on cash counts. Well good luck on managing money. In june you'll no longer have to worry about overdraft fees.

HSBC I was referring to as a credit card company. If I have a payment due on the 15th, and I make it on the 10th, there's a good chance they won't acknowledge it until like the 17th or later. Every other bank I use, for car payments and what not, all acknowledge the payment the following business day and take that off of the loan. This poses a problem because I get penalized for being late on a payment, when I made it more than a week ahead of time, because they didn't post it.

EDIT: And I do keep very good track, I can tell you to the penny how much is in every account, including cash in my wallet at all times. It's kinda pathetic at some times, but it's nice knowing exactly how much you have available.

Gotcha, sorry about the misunderstanding. Well I guess send it in 2 weeks ahead. I've seen our mail room and to tell you the truth it amazes me that anything makes it to the proper place due to volume and caliber of employees hired

That's the real kicker! They are all online payments! I just sent them a huge payment, paid it all off, and closed the account.

honestly. why?
  1. Because Credit Unions will not approve the shit I apply for (and successfully pay off) because they are not big enough to "assume the risk". Dort Federal and Tri-Pointe did in the past, but one became bitchy and they other got pussified. Dropped them both.
  2. I can't go to other states or fly a thousand miles to vacation destinations and find one of my credit union's ATM's while walking down the street. That's why I like both Bank of America and Chase. I also use USAA, Wells Fargo, and PayPal (Wachovia) - and I know how much you love PayPal.

That is not true anymore (both statements) depending on who you bank with. A number of banks (to include BOA and Chase) already have scanning ATM's which identify your cash deposit and make it available immediately. They also make certain checks available immediately if they scan successfully and meet the character recognition requirements (especially if it is another BOA account that the check is drawn from). BOA's cut-off for ATM deposits is 8pm (posted in large font right on the machine) and I have covered myself a number of times after regular business hours when inadvertently fucking up my balance.

Do I rely on it? No. Has it worked? Yes.

This is an awesome new technology. It uses the Check21 process of scanning checks to the fed and then the scanner for Moola . . . very pricey and only the baller banks, Chase, BOA, can afford this as of yet. Deibold is working hard on trying to get the price down for the rest of us regional banks.

seriously if this is just about overdraft charges perhaps it would be wiser to change your budgetary setup instead of bank jumping.
