the insurance company thinks itll cost more to fix than the cars worth , my friends focus for hit from the rear and only needed a bumper cover and they totaled it

how? as in conceptually?

fair market value - cost to repair = some value exceeds a threshold as a percentage of fair market value.


list the damaged parts, now go find out how much they cost + labor.

if the headlight tabs are broken, each headlight unit is probably $400+ alone. Add a hood at probably 1k+, front bumper cover, (supports/braces?) paint...labor...
