I can agree with that to a point, But that is not the goal of the of the main groups involved. The "Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)" is the most one sided and most promoted by the Granholm and DNR.

"Each certification system has
notable structural differences and
each receives funding from different
sources. The FSC, an international,
non-governmental and multi-
stakeholder governed organization,
receives 85 per cent of its
funding from independent, philanthropic
foundations, with substantial
“in-kind” contributions from
large conservation groups such as
the World Wildlife Fund."

Sorry but that is a load of crap!

I don't get to graduate in december because I will be once class short. The reason for this is that with the budget cuts they dropped FIN 499 in the fall since on average most students graduate in the spring.

I will be moving to Chicago in the dec and will have to commute one day a week to CMU to take that class. I guess that's life though which is not easy.

I don't see where Granholm has done ANYTHING good.

Granted, she inherited a state that is suffering the worst of the current economic malady affecting the rest of the country. But, other than screwing up tuition funding and embracing the forest certification thing, she's done, well, nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Nunca.

Remember laptops for schoolkids? It was a classic half-baked liberal democrat idea (i.e. sounds good, it's "for the children", appeals to class warfare) that had no chance of happening - but it was a cornerstone of her plan. Where'd it go? Now she's all about another "plan" - hmm - sounds familiar. I recall she was all about stopping Canadian trash. And... nada.

That said, she has a good chance of reelection because, (pay attention here kiddies) she's a democrat. Michigan elects , because unions always blindly endorse (even those that hurt their businesses) and (sadly) many minorities have large groups of people brainwashed to believe that will take away their right to vote (seriously).

Look at Carl Levin, Debbie Stabenow, and (shudder) John Conyers.

The other thing going for her is the Amway thing. While DeVos is saying the right things, I haven't gotten past the whole "Scamway" connection. Do I really want a pyramid scheme con man as governor? Actually, right now, I'd take the con man with a plan over the retired fashion model who is more worried about polls.

Incidentally, I wouldn;t be too tough on her about the Honda plant that went to IN. There was no chance, repeat NO CHANCE of that ending up in MI. Honda will not locate a plant in a state where the UAW holds so much political clout. Period. Rural OH, IN, KY, TN, IL, etc... yes. MI - no.

Hey duffman enlightmen me on the amway/scamway thing ... i know the back story devos and van andel started it, and it was a pyramid home distributorship, and my fmaily still has some random super super concentrated stuff my old man bought in the late 70s But what was the scam part ?

other than that (not being informed on what the scam part was) i agree with you 100 %

plus she is canadian trash .... i want to send her back on a rail car to rot in canada and she can continue to farm moles on her neck and cheeks.

The teachers are shameless my sisters is a special ed clasroom assistant and as staunch republican as i am ... and she is always telling me stuff all the time, so many teachers are clueless politically, and have no logic, no economics, or history understanding, and worst poor grip of reality. She will be a teacher by next year.

lol In highschool one of my asshole bitchy feminazi teachers FLAT OUT TOLD us seniors in her class we needed to vote! Not vote as a civil reponsibility but we needed to vote a millage increase and get more monewy for the schools. Me and three friends were like hell yeah were voting ... NOT for a millage increase ... she couldn't believe it. They are darn near all brainwashed misinformed robots of the union machine.

Agreed, the horse left the barn long before Granny or Engler

That goes back to the old establishment. UAW did it to themselves

Granholm will never be able to get foriegn companies to be as interested here as she wants as long as we are controlled by the unions. Why pay a union guy $18 an hour to sweep a floor when you can go to a southern state and pay that to the supervisors?

Myself, it has a lot to do with education why I will not support her. For me, motorcycle safety classes are important. However, since she took over office, it has gone to hell fast. Before her administration, motorcycle safety was run by bikers (25 years). We always had money left at the end of the year, had parts to keep the bikes running, and had enough classes to keep up with the demand. Now, the program is run by SOS (3rd year), and for the 3rd year, we are short of money, supplies, and classes are cut. Thanks for showing us how to run the program the government way! Why couldn't they leave it alone. We also now have 3rd party testing, what a joke. People who don't ride testing those that want to.

Sure, Devos is connected to Amway. However, look at what he has done for GR, is it that bad? How many big companies aren't a bit on the crooked side?

This statement assumes that it is Granholms fault that the Big3 are getting their asses handed to them by foriegn automakers. I find that hard to believe. We employ the greatest percentage of autoworkers in the country and of course we cannot replace those jobs with others as quickly, it is not possible with the skills background the people who are laid off have.

While we are housecleaning, High ranking Dinosaurs like Carl Levin (re-elected for 25 years) and John Conyers (re-elected for *gulp* 40 years?) must also assume their responsibilty for Michigan's economic decline. They both have the seniority power but chose to support the old establishment. How much automotive manufacturing expansion has been built south of the Michigan border in 25 years? Almost all of it?? Honda alone employs 25,000 Americans. How many are in Michigan? 2? No we were too proud and encouraged the "domestic imports" to build elsewhere.

Whether you are pro domestic, pro import, it doesnt matter. Michigan can't afford to turn down manufacturing opportunities. Right now, only the automotive imports are building plants in the US. We recently let Indiana beat us for a massive Honda plant investment? Toyota too! GIVE ME A BREAK!
