Good Route to Gladwin Trails?

Ok let me start of by saying that this map:

http://www.gladwinco.com/Postings/OR...ion8-11-09.pdf

is bullshit.

I tried to go out of Gladwin from Oberlin Rd. and head east on Ridge Rd. It shows that there is a road that crosses the river, but I got out there and there is no such thing. Can anybody suggest a good route to get to the gladwin ORV trails by ORV legal roads? I could probably figure it out by trial and error, but trying to see if anybody else knows a better way.

Apparently I can't trust maps, so does anybody on here do that occasionally and what route do you take?

I think you are pretty much limited to m-61 to cross the river, or you have to go north to secord dam rd off from m-30 to cross there, then you could access the sterling truck trail or lame duck,( I can't remember which one is first without looking it up) to center fire line rd, but you have to go south quite a ways to get to the orv trails. hope this helps some.

I've always used the trailhead just south of M-61 off Center Fire lane.

And i don't know about that map. I use VVMapping. See http://www.vvmapping.com/trails/gladwin.html.

I realize this is an older post, but did you ever find a better route?

That's the problem, you can cross the river using secord dam road, but can't get there from the west side (because of M-30). We have a cabin on the the east side of the river so it's easy for me, but my friends on the west side have to trailer there stuff over to my place (at least untill the river freezes). It's a drag.

Have you tried going down to Albright Shores and crossing there?

nope, but I had since gotten road legal and just take m-61 from the river to 3 rivers road then take that north and get on Ridge Rd to get to the trails.

I got a place down by the yellow gate at the end of ridge close to the river. there is a spot we take are ATVs across but it depends on what condition the banks are in because they are about 6 feet high and get pretty tore up. once across you just go to the right and there is a road that will take you to an orange gate that is the ORV trail.

This yellow gate ?

The one that blocks a county road ? If so do you know why it is gated ? The County map shows it as a county road? Is your place back in there somewhere or down the road closer to Three Rivers ?

yeah, that's the one, behind it is kinda like a neighbor hood area, used to be a bridge that went across the river, but it got washed out. No i don't have a place behind there, its down the road just to the right of that gate.
