Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional. Which one?

Which one should I get. This is for my home laptop. I can get them both for the same price.

Here is a link for the brake down of the two

If it's anything like previous versions, if you can get Pro for the same price, do it.

Besides all of the different versions, you also have to choose whether you want 32 bit, or 64 bit. I don't get microsofts marketing approach here. Too many SKU's for the average consumer to choose from/make sense of.

There should be a home, and professional version (with added network/admin controls). Both supporting 32 and 64 bit.

Meh, I'll just stick with Snow Leopard.

I have Home Premium too. But I cant say if you'd need any of those things that Proffesional offers, so its up to you.

All I can say is that I've had zero problems since I installed. My PC is a gaming machine, so thats basicly all I've been doing with it.

But I think I need to mention that Windows 7 takes up nearly a gigabyte of memory just running. But you didnt mention if you're already running Vista or just XP, so I cant tell you whether or not you'd be better off with or without 7.

Then you shouldnt have any problems with 7 at all. Its much more stable and even runs faster than Vista.

Is 7 x64 better than XP x64 is with compatibility with peripherals? I've had alot of pains with a 64 bit station here at work with printers, software, and other items. Anything not brand new doesn't work, or I have to jump through hoops to make them work.

I can't answer whether 7 is better in that manner, but I've never had issues with peripherals on my XP 64 machine at home. Based on my experience with it and the fact that I've had networking problems with XP Home before (usually dealing with wireless), I would choose 7 Pro 64 if it was all the same price.
