I have never dealt with them except over the phone. my realtor said not to use them due to bad experiences with them.

I have an AWESOME mortgage guy. He has called us every time rates have dropped to refinance. Answered every single question I could throw at him. He's at Capital Mortgage. Shoot me a PM if you want his number.

I used a guy at John Adams Mortgage. They're direct underwriters, so they do the processing REAL fast (25 days from offer to close on an FHA mortgage last month). His name is Brad Silvius and he's got offices in Southgate, Livonia, and Dearborn.

Great guy to deal with, very patient with me (first time home buyer) and explained the whole process. He's quick to return emails or phone calls, and he knows exactly what you'll need, paperwork wise, so that things go as quick as possible and smooth.

I get asked this all the time since the wife is a broker / agent and i have mine with them, (DFCU financial) they are the most straight forward people i've ever dealt with. this is a link to the loan officer i deal with she's been doing this over 20 years and is the most knowledgable person i've talked to in the industry.

Yep, bought a house, and submitted the paperwork about 3 weeks ago for the rebate. You can actually treat a 2009 home purchase as if it happened on Dec 31, 2008, file a 2008 1040-X Amended Tax Return, and get your money within 6-8 weeks. They also pay interest from the time the purchase occurred until the date you get your $8000, so it winds up being like $8025.

You can still get the rebate up until either November 30th or December 1st, can't remember which.

I've heard that they're considering making it up to $15,000 (or 10%) for next year though.
