I am in the process of putting a 95 cummins in a ud nissan box van. The 95 cummins has a mechanical pump so wiring is easier , but the tranny is another story. Good luck with your choice.

it i only as hard as how much time, tools, and friends you have.

I did a 3.9 on a ranger and it was good times.

a 5.9...... think cutting, and welding, and more cutting!
Wish you were closer, it sounds like fun.

Look at it this way. 460= tons of power, can rev higher than most diesels but cant pass a gas station. 5.9 cummins= tons of power and torque, can provide years of reliable service even after being turned up, and can still achive 20+mpg in most cases.

You've got fabricating and lots of work no matter which way you go. If you do a cummins, either get a NV4500 5-speed or go the C6 route with a trans adapter. Don't waste time with a dodge automatic, they're not up to the task of handleing the torque of the cummins.
