Took a long time today to line all this stuff up, check it during articulation, ect, ect. Still have to build a removeable cross over and decide how I want to tie it into the frame.

I had to angle the hoops out 2 deg to get everything to clear so you can see the gap that is left between the hoops and the frame.

My plan as of now is to weld the tube to the side of the frame after I cut it below the line in the pic, I'll cap that end. I plan on boxing in around the tube back to the frame after that. Wondering what people think about welding them to the frame that way? I can attach them to tube and attach that to the side of the frame....as an alternative. Let me know what you guys think.

drill holethrough frame, put short piece of tube through hole, weld hoop to tube... or just how you got it

Ass end of the TJ is sitting on it's own again with shock mounts modified for the new shocks Just needs bumpstops in the rear and the rear suspension is ready to go.....well once I tear the axle down, disc coversion, brakelines, gears, ect The closer I get the further away it looks
I moved the front upper bracket at the axle end over 1/2" today to keep it off of the chain case cover. I also pulled the trackbar bracket mount off the frame and welded the inside. That downhill welding looks good but doesn't penetrate worth a crap! Finished grinding the front diff cover and set the steering stops. I have 3/4" between the lugs and the lower control arms at full lock. I held off on burning in the front hoops, looking for more opinions before I move forward. I did tack the other coilover tab on the passanger side in place. I work on it so little that I have to write myself a note to remember what I was working on Next up are the corner guards. I need to figure out how people are holding them to the body. I really don't want to weld those on Phone battery died today so no pictures

Cheapthrillb2 came over yesterday and helped me get my hoops in place. Thanks again . Well I tried my best not to mess up the hoops that Vondirt so gratiously bent up for me. Vondirt does some bad ass fab work and is also a super nice guy! Thanks again . We ended up splicing the tube to sit on top and down the side of the frame. I think it turned out ok. I still have to figure out how I'm going to cut and cap the bottoms of the tubes but it was getting very humid in the shop so we left. So far one of the most utilized pieces in the shop is an old curtain rod. Mocked up steering, trackbar, now it's being used to hold the coilover mount location in space. Biggest gap between the tube and the frame is about 1/16th of an inch. I think I drove CTB2 crazy with my extra cutting and grinding work

We were looking at where the crossover hoop is going to go. I'm thinking about pulling the mechanical fan in favor of a Taurus fan. Have to do some research on that. Also talked with a guy in CA yesterday, going to trade C/O lower springs with him. Still need to sell or swap the upper springs.
Finally got a picture of it with the black doors on it.

Went into work and put my front cover on the bridgeport to clearance for bolts. Had to countersink for flatheads across the top to clear the track bar. That's ready for paint and install finally.

Also picked up my tube clamps. I dropped round stock off and called in a favor. I don't think he did too bad considering he was building from a picture. I owe him one.

Getting bump stops this week. It'll be 4 weeks before I have a free weekend again, probably not much progress between now and then

Been watching welding demo's on You Tube. Welded up the front axle today. Waiting on my hydro assist to come from Cali before I brace everything up. CTB2 helped me get a crossover bent and notched. Going to put some flanges 1" from the side tubes so that the crossover will be removeable. Little bit here and there.

This week I got the front axle moved back into place to check clearance for hydro assist. I'm going to mount the cylinder side to the diff cover, other side to the tie rod. I'm assuming I have to get everything aligned before I can weld the hydro assist to the tie rod. I also checked the clearance of the HD diff cover after putting the flat head clearance along the top. Fits like a champ. I added the removeable flanges and got them burnt home. Then I welded the crossmember in. I cut and capped the bottoms of the coilover hoops last night. Might get some more done this weekend. Also need to figure out a decent way to mount my Chevy bumpstops, preferably adjustable. Looking for ideas on that one.

Nice build. I am with you on the bump stops, trying to come up with a plan for when I get there (probably still 6 months away??).

Thanks, I'm looking around but not seeing much for making them adjustable. I'll come up with something.

Upper 3/4 of the way done. Got to use my Barbedwireoffroad dimple dies today. Holesaws are teh suck.
Bracing:

Wraps all the way around the axle. If the upper goes somewhere it won't be from lack of effort

Going to cap the sides and the middle yet.
