Default Which GPS software for my laptop

I have been looking at some software for utilizing my laptop for both on the road and off road. DeLorme and Microsoft seem to have a couple of options. My question is: With all the USFS and KOTARO stuff going, which product would be the best option. I have a magellan 315 (ANCIENT) that I will put in my truck for getting me home. But I want the software and plug in GPS to mark and save the spots I find. Plus use it on trips to get around town.

Do you guys have any thoughts on the matter?

I have the DeLorm Topo USA. It works great the split screen for 3D and flat mapping is supper. I have their USB antenna (powered from the PC) they also have a new Bluetooth antenna no wires. it shows grades of trails and you can note or document the trails all you want. They also have most of the two tracks and fire trails. The 3D display can be overlayed with satilite images it shows the route just like it looks when you get there. i guess you can tell I like it.
