brew your own. As soon as I get a house, I'm setting up a personal brewery. My dad started doing it this year and loves it.

You could brew your own beer and have a marijuana grow lab right in the same room.

Just what a dying economy needs, more "sin tax" If the govt really wants to help the economy they should find other ways instead of trying to drive away the few residents they have left.

why do they have to refer to alcohol as a sin? I think it's more of a sin to judge others.

Isn't it a violation of church & state to call it a "sin" tax?

Sin:
1. A transgression of a religious or moral law, especially when deliberate.
2. Theology
a. Deliberate disobedience to the known will of God.
b. A condition of estrangement from God resulting from such disobedience

So, if someone doesn't believe in god, and they smoke, how can they be charged a "sin" tax for buying cigs?

I'm glad I don't smoke, too much to think about!

Would you be less opposed if a was called a luxury tax?

As much as I hate taxes I don't have a big problem with taxing tobacco and alcohol.

I'm guessing it came from the past. It was probably called that because it was considered a sin by the majority of our country. Plus it's just easier to say then "Things that are unhealthy or can be bad for you" tax.

Edit: Now, if they were to tax non-Christians (for a Sin tax) then that would be an issue. Theologically speaking, Christians don't have sin.
