Dodge cummins

I just bought a 05 quad cab 2500 Cummins! I was wondering what everyone's opinion is for a good exhaust system! I want something that sounds good but also gives me a little power. Thanks any input wanted.

Im not a Cummins expert but usually most 4" turbo back exhaust systems will sound the same. On my 02 7.3 Powerstroke I have a 4" MBRP exhaust and I really like it, they make kit for your truck as well.

Depends on what you will use the truck for. Lots of guys with aftermarket exhausts get tired of the drone during long trips. My 05 QC CTD tailpipe fell off right at the muffler outlet and it was surprising the difference in noise it made in the cab. I kind of liked the sound, but no way I could put up with the drone for hours at a time!

Yeah I do not want something that is annoying on trips since I plan on using it for traveling! But I would like something just to help out the motor get that exhaust out the back and give me some better mileage possibly. Also I have stacks on the wheeling rig I do not need them on the DD.

Do a little research and I think you'll find the 04.5 and up stock 4" exhaust is not all that restrictive. Unless you have to replace the exhaust because its rotting off, you can get a much bigger bang for the buck spending your money elsewhere. From what I've read, in order to have the "in cylinder egr" the turbo turbine has a small housing which causes quite the restriction. So spending big bucks on huge exhausts for extra performance without addressing that restriction at the turbo is kind of silly. Now if you want the sound or just need a huge pipe out the back to make up for other shortcummins.....

HAHA no I am not trying to make up for anything I just bought the truck 3 days ago and have been a hardcore chevy guy my entire life so this is my first dodge and cummins so I am learning about it all. when I get some time I will try to check out what all the issues are with those engines. But in the meantime its always nice to know what everyone else has already learned.

i have a 4 in. turbo back from mbrp and i love it, friend bought a cheaper dynomax
and the baffles in the muffler came apart in less than 6 months, also the cheaper
exhausts have a horrible drone around 70 mph. in my opinion u get what u pay for

Hey Butters would you possibly be able to send me a sound clip or video of your truck? I would love to hear your truck since I have been looking at that brand alot and it seems to be one of the best.

When the tailpipe rusted off from my muffler I replaced it with a 304 stainless from the turbo back with a kit from Magnaflow. I got the kit from Pat at Ironman offroad for a stupid cheap price.

I love the sound of it, and it cleans up great! The tip is welded on, so it keeps it looking nice (does not get the burt end look).

PM Ironman and he can get you more details.
