Default Home engine cleaning tips

I recently got a 305 TPI and it is just full of crap in the cooling passages. I got most of it out with a pressure sprayer but I am wondering if I should put something in there that will really get the job done. I am also wondering about cleaning the crankcase out, if i can use degreaser or not (afraid it might eat out bearings) I don't want to pull the crank or mains or cam so what are my options?

The local engine shop said they cant clean it without having to re-boar/hone it because they use a process that puts small pits in machined surfaces.

for the crankcase buy a few cans of brake cleaner. cleans good and evaporates fast leaving no residue.
