Default Cell Phones...

I am going to be getting a new phone this week, and I am way out of the loop. Im currently using a Razr, which I have been happy with for the last two years, but now I really want something that I can check email with, and browse the web.
I will be staying with Alltel/Verizon, so no iphone.

What does everyone like? What do you dislike?

I was looking at the Treo 755p, but I dont know what makes it different from a blackberry or any other smart phones... please help...

Treo used the Windows based software which is horrid IMO.

My fiance has a Storm, and I have a Pearl. Both are awesome phones, very powerful in what they can do, with very little issues.

I like my Storm, couldn't tell you the difference between it and all the others. Can't say it's perfect (sometimes the screen doesn't immediately adjust to which way you're holding it) and it's heavy, but I like it. You can watch Youtube on it. And look at pron. :)

Be prepared to double your monthly rate to add the email and stuff though.

I have the Storm too. It's great for email as is any Blackberry. Overall it's a great phone but it does have it's downfalls. Sometimes texting is a little hard especially if you have bigger fingers and it doesn't have WiFi. It runs a little slow sometimes too. Other than that I love it.

I've heard good things about these 3 - LG enV Touch - Samsung Alias 2 & the LG enV 2.

My wife has had the enV2 for a year now and it has been very reliable. It seems very functional and has nice features. I've been told the web use isn't the best though.

Good luck! I'll be on the same search in September.

Whatever you do, don't get a Storm. Anyone I know of that's purchased one that has a history of BB use has hated them. They used it for a week, then went back to their old one.

I'm not a BB fan myself, I prefer Windows Mobile in most instances. Basically what you're going to find out is ALL phones suck, just some suck less than others.

I have an iPhone myself, it sucks. It just sucks less than everything else available at the moment.

Do you use Verizon? I'm wondering how this is done? Why would anyone not chose this when email, text and full internet for a smart phone?
I assume you still pay for those options just without the extra for the smart phone?

It's not full internet. It appears to be full internet, but in reality isn't. You wouldn't be able to use things like SSH, etc... that you can use on a phone with a real smartphone plan.

They also pick on people with real smartphones, since they realize it's possible to use more bandwidth, since you can run real applications on them.

I totally wanted a Storm when my wife got hers. I had never had a blackberry before. Well I ended up with a used 8830 and love the TRACKBALL!!!

It has ruined me. I want the large screen of the Storm but I don't think I can live with out the trackball so I'm leaning towards the Curve heavily.

So, Storm Rocks if you are new to BBs.

My issue with the Pearl is that the trackball wears out after a year or so.

You can clean the trackball. Ive had mine out a couple times, the wheels on it are magnetic and pick up junk that needs to be cleaned off or they jam. I had a pearl for 2 years and now my curve for the past year or so, and have loved them both. I hate the storms. Biggest downfalls would be the speed of them, they seem to stumble on the easiest things, and the no wifi feature. They are coming out with a gen 2 storm called the oden i think, might be something to check out...

When I meant worn out I mean actually having a failure, breaking, etc.
