and rear differential issues, unless it was previously taken care of. the '02 and early '03 had a shudder in the rear diff when turning. It was only the LSD units.

I had an '02 4.0L 5sp auto, got ride of it at 125k. No issues with the tranny, but went through a few rear wheel bearing per side, and had the rear diff worked on a few times before warranty was up. after that I just dealt with the shudder problem.

the last time I took it to the dealer for the rear diff was after warranty. the fix was the newer/updated LSD they were using. Of course for the dealer to fix it was like $900. I said the hell with it, and just left it alone.

wow guys, I have an 03 xlt 4x4 with the 4.6L and towing package in it and have nothing but good things to say. I have over 105K on it and haven't have to do to much to it. All I have put into it is shocks, just did all 4 wheel hubs, rear coils, and the 4x4 control mod. Thats the major stuff, You still have your brakes and fluid changes. I can tell you I have not been the nicest to it and it still drives like new. You would never know it had the miles on it that it does.

haha I wouldn't consider doing much for trails/mud with that type of Exploder. I did do a lot of two tracking with mine with no mods. but all it saw was sandy trails.
