Default R12 to R134A What year?

What year did the auto industry make the switch to R134A? I am trying to figure out what I need for my wifes 2000 bravada...I looked everywhere under the hood and owners manual and cant find the info.

even if it is r12 its very hard to come by you pretty much have to find some old stuff stuffed back in a corner that nobody knows about to get it.

it would be easier to do the switch than to find r12

and there are different fitting for the two so by just looking at it you would be able to tell if it has r12 or not.
or if it was supposed to take r12 and the switch has been made already

the change happens around like 94 i believe and rather than finding r 12 there is a replacement called hotshot that you can use instead of trying to do a conversion to 134a
