Ive had it happen twice. First time was at silver lake out on the dunes. Was runnin all the hills pretty quick got to the end went to turn and the front left came off. Took a lug nut from each wheel and put it back on.

2nd time was the day i put my truck back together from painting it. Friend had just mounted my new rims and tires and brought them over, he put the front on i put the back on. Didnt check the ones he did well went for a test drive started to get on the highway got up to bout 50 or so started shaking real bad slammed on the brakes b4 the tire came off. Ended up slowing down enough to were when the tire came off it wedged it self between my brand new fender and the axle.
Ignore the bad pic, its a picture of a picture and it was dark out

Happened to my wife's cousin a few years ago. Getting up to speed on sout bound I-75 from the Waters interchange after a day of wheeling the Grayling bombing range area.

Had some little ones with him too.

No military training, just brought it to a stop on the side of the road After the tire was retrieved and re-installed, drove it back to camp, flat spot on the rotor and all.

Several other Jeeps in the group and no one was hurt. We had just broken off to visit a local friend so we did not see it happen, but were told he was already at pretty much highway speed.

Glad everyone involved is OK.

Now, personal opinion. The "military" training part of the story is almost laughable. Not the training, but the assumption that this is the only thing that helped him keep control. This kind of thing happens every day to average people without major problems. Does not take "military" training to keep a cool head.

The other part that bugs me is why do they always seem to point out the type of car when it is a Jeep. Ever notice that on the cop shows when there is a Jeep in a chase? Identifying the car does not happen as often when it is not a Jeep.

Anyway, just getting that off my chest. Back to your regularly scheduled reading now.

Wrestled?

I recall thinking "whoops" and just turning the wheel and coasting to the shoulder so I wouldn't flat-spot the rotor like thge other picture above. Driving in Iraq really wasn't on my mind.

when I ran the old 5 spoke cast aluminum jeep rims I could not keep lug nuts on no matter what with those rims. I kept a whole bunch of extra nuts in the console. I would drive down the road and hear tink, tink, tink.

Never had this happen to me.

A friend of mine was pulling their boat and the trailer tire came off.

I check the tires on our trailer before we leave home, and before we leave from where we are to come home.
