Default River Raisin flooding

These were taken today around 4:30. The river isnt supposed to crest for another day or so.

The road deck is under 4-5 feet of water under the bridge.

These concrete walls that were poured so the downtown area wouldnt get flooded out are 10-15 or so feet tall under normal flow conditions.

There was a nice walkway along the river that was about 6 feet above the water level. Its now under 4 or so feet of water.

This road is NOT along the river....though it has been washed out by 2-3 feet of very fast moving water.

My sump pump has been cycling once every two minutes or so...and its been getting loud (bearing?). I hope it doesnt decide to quit within the next few days.

The water is up by another foot or so today. The section of paved road above that was flooded out by 5 or so inches of water is now under 14-18 or so inches of water. And other areas of the road is flooded out a few miles further down too.

There was a couple guys in beater pickups that were going back and forth through the water as fast as they could. And a little VW jetta, seeing these guys go through, thought he could too. I could almost guarantee he had standing water inside his car. The water was well above his rocker panels and door seals. Most people were smart enough to turn around though.

Yup. Did you go back out to T&I with brian a couple days ago? If the river is this high here, Im curious how wet that property is now (since its pretty much a drainage basin).

Damn...I heard it was flooded, but I haven't been through town lately. That is crazy

I live right across the street from Otter Creek, and it is extremely high now too. They closed my road down yesterday because it was flowing over the road in a few areas, just guessing...but I would say its 8-10' above normal. The creek is right up to the guys house that lives across the street from me, his walk-out basement is now a swim-out.

Yes. All but two of those pictures were taken inside the city. The two with the swift moving water over the dirt road is Bunce road...about 1/2 way between the city and dundee. Apparently, dundee is fawked....I havent made it in there though. But on the news they showed the river was up to the bridge deck on M50 into town.
