Default Anybody towing with a 2004-05 yukon?

I know hacksaw hooked up his yukon to my trailer and WDH, and the bumper was practically on the ground. Before I buy this 04 yukon as a tow rig, I'd like to hear some feedback.

I see the rating is 8600 pounds, but can you still go 70?

This one is four wheel drive with the v8.

My dad has towed his tracker with a lot of 5.3L trucks and aside from the tongue weight being sensitive it hasnt had any problems doing 65-70. No matter what, it'll be an upgrade from your grand cherokee!

make sure it has the 5.3L and not the 4.8L, I'm not sure if that was even an option but it never hurts to make sure.

A set of rear lift airbags and you'll be fine. I wanna say that the 1500 series Yukons and Tahoes are coil spung rear correct? If so there are probably on the softer side to give a better ride.

Correct they are coil sprung, so is the 1500 Suburban/Yukon XL's.

I have a 2001 Yukon XL 1500, 5.3 4L60E, My trailer + jeep does just fine. It also has 250K on the clock w/ the original motor and trans. It will do 70 just fine with a trailer and jeep behind it.

So the fix to the saggy ass while towing is air bags? I'll have to go look into a setup like that. I think hacksaw's denalli has air ride or something, and I'm not sure if that is why the bumper was on the ground.

hey, my WJ tows great and gets 11mpg while doing so.. 13 if my yj has the windshield down

The WJ's sweet spot is 64 mph which is stupid with a towing package.

Air ride should keep it level, atleast that is what it is designed to do. Look for one with air ride, I think more than just the Denali came with it.

or a weight distribution hitch, I actually prefer those over the bags.

I use a WDH with my 1/2 ton shortbox & find it to work great with a heavier load than you will be towing. Well worth the money. (Ironman can get you a great deal) Or do I read it that you already have one?

I have one.. I couldn't use my WJ without one. I also use dual sway control.

A set of Firestone air bags would make a huge difference. Being able to level out the tow rig and the trailer is great. Having a more comfortable ride is even better. It made a huge difference on my CTD 3500.

If Hacksaws Denali was turned off the air ride would be set at a lower level than with the vehicle running. I had an Expedition with the air ride you would have to turn off the vehicle sometimes to get the suspension to drop just to unhook a trailer. With the ignition on the rear would raise at least 4-6" with a heavy trailer hooked up.

Not sure if any of that made sense or not?

one of my air bags is blown on the shock. Thats why it sagged so much

denalis and exalades have air bag shocks. They are POFS and like 400 dollars to replace.

Why? 70 is illegal in MI pulling a tandem.

I have an 04 Escalade ESV and tow my TJ all of the time without a problem. If you pull too far up on the trailer, you put too much stress on the air bags and they may blow...
