one more thing if you like to torture IT guys... put pervocotive titles on mundane pictures and see how excited things get at work? I post stuff all the time that says Lick Job or Blow job and it will be a picture of a cow licking its nose, or a pinwheel out in a breeze. its just enough to get people talking.

Yes it is legal...in fact most companies probably have a network geek reading employee's emails and the web sites that they visit all day long....

Tell him you just won't read mail then. You're not supposed to do that shit on personal time. Hell, they can get busted for "forcing" you to work over a break.

Not really.

Most only will do it after some form of reported incident or something. The larger the company, the less likely anyone has ever looked at your shit, just by pure odds.

Some of us are allowed to explore the interwebs from work, especially on break...

You know there's actually case law that says it's okay to view news from work? ...

I have a work e-mail address, rarely need it but it's there for when I do road work. Our company policy is very specific as to what you can and cannot do on the company computers. It's not often enforced, but when most companies have specific policies prohibiting personal use why give your boss a reason to fire you? I have computers at home for web surfing and I can view my personal e-mail on my blackberry (mine- not company)at break.

Face it- posting to GL4x4 is not work related for 99% of us.

Yetti- your boss sounds like my old one- he rsisited having a computer in his office for 10 years, then when they made him take one he would print out all the e-mails and leave them on the desk- that's how I discovered the company was failing 6 months before they announced the closing, by then i was long gone.
