Default 4X4 Quad opinions "still looking"

My brother is looking to buy a 4x4 quad in the next month or two, but has some unique issues to overcome.

He needs it to be 4 wheel drive, minimum 500 CC engine. He lives in the bunk house at the top of Aspen Mountain out in Colorado, and wants something he can ride to town (when there isn't much snow).

So, I am thinking Fuel injected is probably a good idea, being there is a 3,000 foot elevation change from his bunk house to the town.

Any recomendations as far as what brand, engine size, model? he is looking to spend around $4,000-$4,500.

Thanks for any advice or recomendations or even if you know someone who is selling something that might fit the criteria. He wants to buy in Michigan (don't ask me why, I don't understand it either)

In my experience with riding out west with those elevaqtion changes, a carb will do okay and get him further with his $.

That is an awesome deal for that quad. Unfortunately, my brother isn't looking to spend that much.

well if you want fuel injection there is very little in the way of OLD quads that have as of yet. most of the stuff before `07 is still carbed.

Well, thank you for the input. He just bought a 2005 or 2006 (can't remember right now) Honda Rincon 680. Should be showing up at my place within the next week, so I get to play with it for the next 3 months till he comes back from colorado for a bit.

4x4 quad opinions? not only is the rincon low on power, but if it is a push button shift model, you better hope it dosent break out of warranty. it is an electric/hydraulic trans not like most other brands and extremely expensive to fix.

the brute force is an awsome quad, but so is the rincon, either one is a good solid platform, the brute force has a cvt transmission that works flawlessly and has excellent throttle response and the rincon use a 3 speed automotive style tranny with a torque converter and can also be shifted manually. both power plants are equally impressive.

Polaris.

Last time I was there, dealer in Woodhaven had NEW Sportman 500 EFI units in stock. Might be in his price range.
