true, but since he is running the 5 frame there should be more room than with the 2a frame.

I have been pretty sick for a couple weeks and have not had time to do the D30 swap. Adam came over today to help me throw it under and hopefully prep for the winch that should be arriving Tuesday (and hopefully can find time to mount it for Snowfari)

Got most of it done today, but had to order brake lines and bead glue. Also need to locate a longer (not drop) pitman arm to make use of my new found turning radius.

The width is a nice match with the 2" wheel spacers on the rear. It puts the tires out just enough to protect the body.

We have to break down all my tires and transfer 3 of them to wheels that have safety beads and use bead glue on them. The 4th needs just broken down and bead glue put on, then I need to calibrate my tire deflators and put together spare parts and a tool kit to take.

Tomorrow my brake lines should be in, and we can install the new lines and bleed the system.

While underneath today Adam discovered my rear u-joint is toast, and we have to make up a new front shaft because the D30 uses a large u-joint compared to the flatties original one.

I hate last minute wrenching for a wheeling trip. Even more so when we are not positive how we are getting it there

Oh yeah.... I forgot to add, one of these should be showing up next week sometime... 8k should be overkill, and well, it won't get used a lot. I hear a lot of pretty decent reviews as it should be a second gen that I receive and will be a rebadged t-maxx

and a winch cover for FREE...

A guy we wheel with down here has that winch and while it "stupid" slow it sure gets the job done.

I think you'll be happy for the price! and everything looks great!

I would get a spare solenoid for your winch.. they're around 70 bux and they're prone to going bad.. i fried mine but only because im dumb and got the controller wire tangled up into the winch cable

If they are that expensive and prone to going bad, I will try to figure out a more reliable way.

Some more pics from today... Adam convinced me to check the wheelbearings and I am kind of glad I did now, the drivers side wheel seal was shot, so tomorrow some new seals should be arriving, and I am going to replace that bearing just for peace of mind.

All that is left for now:

Replace rear u-joint (1/8" of play)
Finish installing new brake lines and bleed
install new wheel seals, grease whel bearings, and re-assemble.

Install winch and winchplate maybe.... if the winch arrives.

I should be able to air down sufficiently now. Got some different wheels from Adam and he switched the tires to them for me. These have a safety bead and I also used bead glue to help eliminate leaks when aired down. The slightly wider rims really changed the look of it (other then the rusty white paint)

It was all that tire swapping... and who knew you had to remove the wheel cylinder to change the brake hoses

Could you use one of these generic ford solenoids?

This post jinxed me. I know it.

New wheel cylinders are in today. If I get home early tonight I will install and try to re-bleed the brakes

Then I need to adjust a wheelbearing and who knows my winch could be installed yet (doubtful )

CJ2A is mobile and ready to go... if the winch comes tomorrow I may just get it on

Need to make a bearing adjustment and minor brake adjustment I think... but I KNOW i just set a world record changing a wheel cylinder... 30 mins from wheel on to changed cyl and wheel back on... 1 hour includes bleeding the brakes by myself and driving around testing and taking pics.

Does sweet doughnuts with it's new found turning radius... weird it turns sharper one way then the other, need to check steering stops.

The smittybilt uses some Combo solenoid.. Instead of a warn that uses 3 different solenoids the smittybilt has all the controlls in one unit..
