Do not have them attempt to be friends or pet her. She will be curious and want to check the person out. Make sure she is comfortable with the person before they attempt to pet, give a treat or any type of affection. If she starts to show agression assert yourself with her as the pack leader again and control the situation. It may take a little while for her to be comfortable but she will come around.

Sound advice!

go to the dog shelter or human society or ask a vet. there has to be someone interested in saving a dog who works with dogs who would love to help you. Any of those places i listed would have one friendly dog loving black person if you call a few vets and a few shelter, i bet this is not a totally uncommon thing, they mave have a great solution for you or invite you down to the shelter. I am sure they get dogs ocassionaly that are unfriendly to females, old men, blacks etc. I bet shelters have to show dogs not all people are like the black dude who threw a brick at him last week when the dog was digginin his trash etc. Git r done.

CMU - Good luck finding a new home for your pooch. It is hard to give up a part of your family and thats what dogs are, to most. Best of luck!!

This is Drew's wife . . . Cannon is my dog . . . I've decided as of right now to just keep her and stick it out. After much consideration I realize that she means way to much to me to get rid of her. I wouldn't ever put her down, and if a suitable home were to become available I might give her away, but my apartment would be really quiet without her around.

Thanks for the advice and all. I have the vet involved and we are working to get this situation resovlved.

Thanks again,
Bobbie
