Default Ever hear of "small world syndrom"?

I have experienced it a couple of times through out my life. my current wife and me have had it double. since we were introduced we find things we knew about one anothers lives from before we met. the weird part is the close calls we had before meeting each other. her brother is one of my better friends. knew him for years before we met. her other brother and sister were bother great friends had no idea they were related due to different last names due to marrage and such. come to find out we knew each other friends and so on and had never crossed paths for years. so when we met we found out her mom was named Nancy, mine is named Nancy. her mom was engaged to marry a Smith. so her name was to become Nancy Smith, my mom was already Nancy Smith. my wife is Karen Smith. my moms middle name is Karen , and her Moms is Marie so My wifes Middle name is Marie. our moms were born the same year. they both have sons named Tom who were also Jrs. and they are both born within two days of each other. to say the least is been odd crossing all the "T"s and dotting the "i"s.
anyone else have a major case of this?
I have more but my fingers are getting tired.

I had something like that happen. (not as in-bred though)

I was born and raised in the Soo and have since moved to Northwest Indiana. I went to work at a pool here instructing lifeguards for awhile and one of the other employees had a strangely familiar accent. So we started talking. Turns out that she was from Pickford and her brothers used to play with my dad when they were young on Neebish Island. Now my dads in his early 70s so it's been a long time ago.

That was wierd enough. What made it even stranger is another guy- not an employee but patron of the pool happened to walk by and he too picked up on the accents. He asked where we were from. Turns out he was from the Soo as well and his sister turned out to be my Uncle's first girlfriend..... My uncle is in his 50's so again you get the idea.

It was a STRANGE day and had a good time telling my folks about it as well as my uncle.

Another time was when my wife an I were on the way to the hunting camp in the UP and got pulled over by the state police for speeding. I told him I was looking at the map because I had never gone that way before (we were going the back roads from St. Ignace up to camp). He said "What camp are you going to?". I told him and the next words were "I was there just 2 weeks ago! Let me see that map." Turns out he knew my uncle and let us go. Was a good day. :)

Only thing I can think of right now is a job interview I went on a couple weeks ago. The girl who was gonna hire me noticed I had MI plates, she asked where I was from, I said Utica. She said she was from Clio, and I told her I had been there a few times since my ex lived in Montrose. Apparently the girl said she thinks she knows her.

My wife's name is Nickie, and her mom's name is Linda. My wife's friend is Nickie and HER mom's name is Linda. That friend has a brother who just got married to another Nickie and his new wife's mom is named Linda too.

It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it.

this happens to me now and again.

most recently my daughter started elementary school last year and the principal was the dad of my childhood buddy from our soccer team. haven't seen or heard of him in 22+ years. this year his son transferred schools and now teaches there.

the other one was when immortal, possium8, deathdealer and I were at the yacht club. we were ripping on this chick who wouldn't shut her yap and had a dorky boyfriend. i don't remember where she was from but her cousin had gone to the same high school as I and said I wouldn't remember her as I graduated with some 900 kids. I said we'll never know until you tell me her name. sho nuff it was a cheerleader whom which I had a crush on and was in a bunch of my classes.
