I'd bet your new drivetrain combo will be lighter than your old one with the nv4500 and all.... lighter, more power, more potential, only downside is more work!

Have you decided what kind of V8 you're going for? A GM gen III smallblock is gonna be the best bet IMO....light, powerful, great platform stock, HUGE aftermarket, limitless potential, readily available, etc, etc. I picked up a high mileage but good running 5.3 from a buddy for $50, I was gonna spend about $1500 to build it into a 400+hp iron block 5.7, but then I picked up a complete low mileage 6.0 for $1400 to build up a bit for even more power.

LMAO....I was waiting for this to happen. The Domino effect got you again...That's ok it just got me last week too. I ordered my Stak Mini 3 speed. I went with the Stak 3 speed instead of the Atlas 4 speed mainly because I have no plans to extend my wheelbase yet(unless the Domino Effect gets me again). Plus liked what my crawl ratio worked out to be. So what engine are you going with?

I wouldn't go crazy trying to get your hands on that one, that's a pretty average price. If you miss out on this one don't worry, another will come along for a similar price.

that's what I have been saying.... low mile LS1's have gone for the same price....

it's an ok deal but I'd keep looking to see what else is out there, you might stumble upon an aluminum 5.3L which would be a sweet motor to have right behind the LS1!

Well I wont be doing anything until the old engine sells and the way thats going might not be for some time.. So with that said I am just going to let it sit until I get the money cause i dont want to start welding stuff and find out i have to move it for the V8..

I was gonna do my suspension before I start messing with the 6.0 but if you somehow motivate me to do it now I might be willing to get that swapped in soon and let you borrow my 5.3 for mockup. I'm not sure how you'll talk me into that though, I have a lot of work to do to it before then.....still, if I get to that point before you sell the I6 then you're welcome to borrow it.

Well thank you for the offer but I beleive I have a buyer for my 6 cyl. So in the next couple weeks ill be moving again.. Now i just need to decide on an engine, save a little more money for an ls1 or buy this 5.3 set up. but thanks again bbaxj

Go for the 5.3 and use the extra money to upgrade cam and valvesprings. Then you'll be making LS1 power with a stronger iron block, and later on once you get bored you can bore it out and throw stock LS1 pistons in it. That'll give you LS1 displacement (346ci)with around 11:1 compression due to the smaller chambers on the 5.3 heads, and with a good cam you can easily put out 400+hp.

Well I need to wait for these few weeks for the buyer to buy the old engine than ill be scraping forums and junk yards for engines.
