Default B2 Build

Well the start of the build is an 89 Ford Bronco II. It came from IL. My friend bought it from a guy and it kept having problems breaking flexplates...it broke I think 2 or 3. So I bought it off my friend because he was tired of fixing it. For 500, I think I got a pretty good deal. The bronco is very solid...slight surface rust at the rear fender, but they are going to be trimmed anyhow. The frame is also solid, in some areas there is still factory paint, and only surface rust.

It has a 2.9L V-6 in it. This is probably one of the more "detailed 2.9's" you have seen just because the 2.9 isn't exactly the best motor ever made. It also has the al4d transmission which isn't exactly known for strength either.
The rear has a ford 7.5 which I should of just kept my explorer 8.8 with 4.10's and limited slip...I will probably keep my eye open for a good deal on one and put that in if I find one cheap enough. The front has a dana 28 ttb axle, both with 3.73 gearing. I have a buddies dana 30 I am thinking about swaping in and putting leaf springs in for the front and finding a rear axle with 4.10 gears to match.

Currently I replaced all spark plugs, one valve cover, one oil pan, new oil pan gasket, new valve cover gaskets, and cleaned the engine up. It is in need of a new fan so I will probably get a flexalite for it.

I got the right transmission inspection cover for it, a new torque converter, a new flexplate and spacer, and new front pump seal so hopefully that takes care of all the flexplate breaking issues, new motor mounts and tranmission mounts will be installed very shortly also.

I plan on making a home made snorkel out of PVC, and I am building a front bumper as you can see in the pic. It is out of 4x4 steel and 1/4" wall, there will be a 2" receiver in the front for a recovery point, and I have a 2" receiver for the rear that I just had sand blasted for a recovery point.

I will gut the interior, build some rocker guards, a homebrew lift with 1" body lift, and probably going to run some 33"s, get the largest transmission cooler I can fit and a few other things I might have forgotton...check it out so far!

Where the hell do you guys find these "clean" B2s? Ours rotted to junkyard status in 10 years (88-98 RIP)

lol my buddy found it in craigslist. I think he bought it for 600 when it ran, but it came from illinois and I guess the guy said they don't use salt, but sand on the roads in the winter.

This thing used to be mine, I hated it. Flex plate kept breaking so I gave up and he bought it from me...I'm sticking with my Jeep. That being said, it'll be nice if you fixed the flex plate problem...if not then have fun in 2 weeks.

Well the last weekend...not this one we got the drivetrain in...this past weekend I had a bunch of friends over and we hooked up all the wires, filled all the parts with lube, and did little odds and ends...like chaning out filters and what not pretty much just a tune up....it fired right up....all of the vacuum lines are disconnected...I need to get around to fixing that....if anyone knows of a good place that shows me where they all go that would be awesome...next weekend I am probably going to trim up the fenders.

We gutted the carpet out because it was wet from the heater core leaking....suprisingly underneath there wasn't any rust anywhere! I got my new bumper all welded up for the front..it is looking pretty good....it is really heavy duty...I keep getting reactions like OMG....holy shit.....that looks like it was from road warrior....lol it is looking half way decent...just very heavy duty...lol

In the next month I am going to buy a lift for it either 4 or 6" and a 1 inch body....does anyone know if the ranger kit will work for it....on national wheel and tire they have a ranger special for a 6" kit for 500....on ebay I found a 4" kit, (springs and what not) not the cheapo pucks and blocks for I believe 440...but for 60 more I would rather have 2 more inches...so what is involved in making that fit?
