Default FSJ build

I picked this up off of the forums awhile ago...Wouldn't run, cam gear was stripped.

Pre-installed goodies: 4 core aluminum radiator, edelbrock intake, truck avenger, HEI conversion distrib, cam of some sort, hedman headers, 5.13s, lockers front and rear

After tearing it all down, I *think* I've discovered why it kept eating gears, check out the oil slot on the timing gear...I've ordered a handful of goodies from bulltear industries and I'm probably going to end up oiling the timing cover externally by tapping into the oil sending unit

Cam is marked energizer, no idea who makes this one. Crane doesn't have a reference of ever making an energizer for the AMC 360

Fenders before:

Fenders after:

Some fugly shop tires for sure. I hate 7' garage doors

I'm still waiting on parts from bulltear so I decided to start work on the floors..PO purchased BJs replacement panels that need to be installed..I'm going to have to dig up some old road signs I have laying around to fix it completely

Freddie Flinstone carnage

Surprisingly enough, the rockers are still very solid. Only 1 body mount is screwed up as well. It's been difficult to find a FSJ that wasn't completely rotted out, this one only needing floors was no big deal. It gave me an excuse to get this

And this

For some reason it had a 3 bolt harmonic balancer on it and only had a 2 groove pulley, I want to run OBA and didn't have access to a 3 groove 3 bolt pulley so I decided to use the ones off of a donor 360..sand blasted and painted them flat black. Threw a speedi-sleeve on the harmonic cuz the surface was a hot mess

Timing cover off of donor 360, I decided to use this one and eliminate the cam gear problem being from a distorted cover..Masked off all the surfaces and went to town with the sand blaster..co-worker laid down some epoxy on it

Sooner or later the rats nest wiring is going to piss me enough that I either swap in another dash and wiring harness, or build my own sheetmetal dash

Couple misc shots of my workspace

Pictures are shitty, my SLR battery was dead and my charger was at work....Pictures didn't turn out too bad on the Iphone

Your garage looks a lot nicer than the last time I was up there. Truck looks good. Are you going to do big things?

I'll let you drive it when its back together... With all of the time and effort you put into it you deserve to go tear shit up with it for awhile!!!

Updates:

Timing cover is now installed with new bulltear gear, picked up a oil filter relocation setup so I can run it thru an oil cooler when I get around to it..I always hated how they mounted the filters on the AMCs...
Also installed a flowcooler water pump, seems like every v8 I've had would overheat so I'm thinking with the aluminum rad and high flow pump it should keep that in check. Next up is to find a taurus fan at the yard and fabricate some mounts to the radiator..

The "kit" was pretty nice, hoses are a little short for what I'm planning on doing...

I normally don't run fram filters but I'm planning on starting it and running it for awhile, doing some heat cycles and then draining the oil and changing the filter to a WIX or napa gold.

I hate the GM oil cooler lines on my truck. All they've ever done is leak.

That looks a little more beefy though.

You gonna be wheeling it this Winter?

I think those cheap ass cooler lines were made in good ol' TC Michigan..I know cuz I worked there for awhile before they closed the doors

They leak around the crimp where the steel line is joined to the rubber

Yes that is the plan for this winter!!
I've got all of the parts to punt the quadratrac, I got a 32 spline TH400 output, NP203 adapter and 32 spline NP203 box...I'm still undecided on what case I will run in the rear..I really like the idea of different low ratios thats why I'm steering clear of 205s. I'm redoing the floors anyway so I can use Bones' advice and flip the 203 for smore clearance

For now I want it to run & move so I can have an excuse to buy a manual valvebody and give compression braking a shot with an automatic...Never experienced that before!!

The fucker runs!!
I fucked with the timing and couldn't get it running any better than where I set it when I installed the distributor haha

Things it still needs:

Wiring! still a bit messy. Basically just needs to be cleaned up and dressed down.

Electric fan - I think I'm going to break down and buy the one that fits the radiator..It's got a nice ass mounting boss already on the radiator and if 2400cfm isn't enough I can modify the sheet metal to house a taurus fan..It's like $200 which is gay but I think it will work

Battery relocation - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Moell...ssoriesQ5fGear
Big boy shit, an actual box that houses an 8D. I figure I can put that next to the fuel cell in the box, with the cover I will be able to throw tools and a high-lift in there without arcing the terminals. Should be dandy when I get a winch.

Exhaust - headers leak, gay ass things I hate them. I'm going to give them an honest shot, I've heard guys say that the copper gaskets fix the leaks for good....We'll see

Plug wires - The set I have is retarded long, I need to do up a custom set and dress them down for that kuh-lean look

Floors - Still need to be welded up and fixed

Seats - still undecided if I want to run OEMs or some racing style for when I do a cage and want 5pt tie-ins

Tail lights - Need to get some LED trailer lights and recess them in the rear bumper..probably the least of my worries at this point

If you decide not to go with those seats you got from me, Grandman will buy them from you. Your J-20 is looking good.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm going to Singapore/Korea for 2 weeks starting tomorrow so I won't be around. I'll be sure to hit him with a PM when I get back!

I decided to bust out the mig welder last night, keep in mind this is with .030 flux core wire and a newb running the gun. Still need to fabricate some additional patch panels but atleast its started...I'm a bit lazy and didn't have a wire wheel around so I tried to buff up the surface as best as possible with a grinder wheel.....
