I'm not saying they would fly banners to show their decision to the world. I don't know your relationship, but it would be interesting to find out what they think.

so when do you draw the line from adult to embryonic stem cells. Adult stem cell research (pluripotent cells that already have defined lines) are in the process of being made 'younger' into totipotent cells (essentially embryonic stem cells). If you are in favor of adult stem cell research, then you have to define what research you are in fact in favor of. Only moving forward with ASC or can they be reversed to ESC (where theoretically then can differentiate into all the cells that an ESC can create... i.e. human form)

this is main stream enough that the research was being done on cardiac ASC mouse stem cells attempting to take eipthelial stem cells (make your skin... regenerate ALOT) into cardiac stem cells, being done at my small 1,500 student private collage (i helped with some of this research).... What are the bigwigs doing?

Exclamation National/yes?

Whether you believe it will help or not, you need to realize which states are are funding this endever already. You would either be blind or stupid not to realize that even now as people are hard at work, no matter what state they are in, under the current legislation are paying for the research they voted for on the ballot. Why not let the money that's being spent now reap the reward for what they deem the spoils? Why, in a state struck with poverty and high cost of living, have this burden on our shoulders? So I ask you, where does Michigan, the great state I live in to the moral/religuos/beuacratic issue before us? NO WHERE!

Default it's already legal in michigan

opponants of prop 2 say this research is already legal in MI with many companies already in the state doing the work.
supposedly, this prop would give public funding to an already private enterprise. if this is true then screw prop 2. 700 billion to the banks is already too much out of my pocket.
gov't funding means gov't control. IMO, gov't control means bloating, ineffeciency and ultimately another step toward socialism where the gov is deciding not what's "good" for use but what it thinks is "appropriate" for us.
what's "appropriate" for us will of course be different than what's appropriate for those in power.

It's true that prop 2 is not legalizing something that is illegal, it's only adding a clause to our state constitution emphasizing the that legality so that a future governor or legislature can't easily change it. There is absolutely nothing in prop 2 that says anything about public finding.

I wanted to thank everyone for sharing your views on this topic. Remember there is no state funding allocated in this proposal. I hope you can see it in yuor heart to vote yes!
