Cliff notes

Ex convict has an AK47 and unloads 30 rounds into a trick or treater he thought was robbing his house.

I hope your joking.

"He told police he had been robbed and shot in the past year."

"Police said they also charged a 19-year-old in his home, Ericka Patrice Pee, with obstruction of justice when she was caught trying to run away after the shooting with $7,500 in cash."

I'm guessing that AK was NOT legally registered.

X2 - and if they ban "assault weapons" I'm sure the guy would have taken it down town to hand it over

And, on a similar note, what if the guy had strangled the kid with rope? Should we implement laws banning rope as well

I agree 100% that it was not legally registered. So how the F did this guy get one? Why do we have AKs floating around on the streets? How did he get ammo for the gun?

That is an apples to oranges comparison. Rope was not invented to kill, an AK47 is.

Ok, now you've opened up a can of worms.....I'm assuming you're categorizing an AK as an "assault weapon," care to enlighten us on what exactly makes it an assault weapon? Sure, it might have been invented for that specific task (as I'm not sure exactly why that specific gun was invented) - but it's no different from any other semi automatic gun.

While I agree with you that they shouldn't be floating around the streets, do you understand that criminals are criminals for a reason? Even if legislation is put in place to keep "assault weapons" off the streets, this crime could have just as easily been carried out with a 12ga shot gun....the point is, if the guy wanted to kill the kid, he could have done it irregardless of his weapon choice.....

Dude

2 things

1) You cant fire off 30 rounds through a shotgun in a matter of seconds.
2) Any gun is meant to kill. That is its sole purpose of existence. Killing is not the purpose of rope. That is why it is an unfair comparison.

So you want to ban ammo?
What is wrong with a AK, Kalishnikov rifle?
The guy was a felon, he was already breaking the law.
We have plenty of laws, why didn't his PO know he was packing?

Speaking of rope, haven't you hung yourself enough with your stupid shit?

Guns don't kill people. I do.

Dude

2 things

1) you CAN fire off 10 rounds of buck shot through a shotgun in a matter of seconds - this equals more projectiles flying at the target than even 30 rounds through an AK does....hell, for that matter, theres a guy who can fire 10 rounds at a target through a double action revolver in two seconds with the reload

2) No matter how you cut it, it's simply not fair to ban one gun over another because it's an "assault weapon" - and I'm still waiting for your definition on that characteristic. Irregardless of what type of weapon this asshole had, the kid would have died....even if it was a simple single shot .22 rifle - they ALL can kill, but the common factor between all of them is they require a person to pull the trigger

So how the hell would banning these guns help? All that gun bans do is prevent GOOD people from legally registering guns.

Would a ban on AK's make every drug dealing thug go to the PD and turn them in?

My point is that there is something wrong in America when convicted felons can get an AK47. I dont mind handguns, shotguns, rifles, but there is no purpose for an AK outside of our boys in blue and the military.

And I am pretty sure you and I are even with stupid posts this election year. Ill be happy when we can go back to talking about JB welded spark plugs and Kellys broken Jeep.

The problem with that logic is that there are many rifles that function in the exact same fashion as that AK....the only difference being the caliber they're firing.

I agree 100% with you on the whole convicted felons shouldn't be able to get an AK-47, but shouldn't that be any gun, irregardless of how it works? The problem is, that no matter how many laws are in place, you're never going tobe able to get rid of this problem.

How about the second fucking amendment. Which is not about hunting, self defense, target shooting, or collecting.

warning, intentional extremist trolling below.

sounds to me like it's a reason we should ban halloween - that kid should have been home playing on his playstation, or studying for school...

Didn't even read the link. Key words "ex-convict". He probably should have already been in prison and was let out too soon, by a bleeding heart liberal society who wants to blame the instrument of injury rather that the actor who injured.

I agree

So how do these guys get these guns? They cant buy them at the store. Are they smuggled in through mexico or canada? Do they steal them from homeowners during burglaries? Where do they come from?

Gun laws won't help guns from being illegally purchased.
