Default Ever Broken a ford 7.5?

I hear of people swapping the explorer 8.8 into rangers and bronco II s frequently. they all talk about how much stronger they are than the 7.5 but i honestly have never heard of a 7.5 breaking. I dont plan on running anything bigger than 33s on it but if you have ever broken a 7.5, how did you do it? do you think it is at all likely running 33s?

you will be fine with the 7.5 on 33's. The front axle is of most concern.

I broke one in a mustang with a mild 302, twisted the ring gear and sheared the bolts off.

I didn't even know it untill I smelled gear lube one day looked uderneath and seen two holes in the cover from bolt heads breaking off and getting between the gear and cover.
Pull the cover and it had only a few bolts left.

I ripped the spider gears out of one. Dropped the clutch at about 2500 rpm in 4 low with the hubs unlocked. Truck didn't even move, just tore the spiders apart. Last time I tried burnouts on pavement.

4L V6, 35s, Hays clutch

my opinion, swap it for a 8.8.

the 7.5 will leave you stranded and mad!

trust me!

i might put some clutch pads in the l/s unit but that would be it.

thanks Ollie thats what i was thinking.

i think ive got a good idea of how much the axle can take, which is more than i plan on putting it through.
