Colin Powell is an American hero and an amazing mind. If Obama appoints him to any position, it will only affirm that Obama is surrounding himself with good people who will be good advisors.

Should Obama win, not voting for him, but should he win, I hope the best for this country and don't mind he has Colin Powell's support, like said above, he'll have good cabinet members around him.

Unfortunately, I think that this will sway a good number of the undecided "right-leaning centrists" to Obama.

The game may now be out of reach for McCain.

Unless there is an appreciable Bradley Effect, McCain handed this election to Obama.

Seriously, even as a McCain supporter, I am incredibly tired of McCain's attacks on Obama's character. It's almost as if he is saying everything but "You don't want a Niggar in the whitehose" when I hear him speak.

A better man would've forgone his attacks and tried to sustain his race by explaing his plans for the future instead of belaboring someone else's past.

Maybe, however it seems that the polls would be moving toward a wider gap not a closer one.

Very well put. I as a moderate independent/Reagan Democrat have always had the utmost respect for Powell.

What he said on meet the press was 100% accurate in regards to the Rep. party, and how McCain has campaigned.

Carl Rove and his scare tactics worked.....people are scared of getting caught up in few months of mudslinging and having 4 years of another puppet for the neo-cons running the show.

I also agree, that Powell is a stand up guy. I'm also not sure what he was doing w/ the Bush administration...

i suspect the closer the election day the closer the polls will become. if all the liberal polls continue to show the dems with a wide gap, most who vote for obama will figure he has already one and not show up to vote giving mccain a good chance to win.

I believe that Colon Powell was asked by Mr. Bush to be SOS in his administration Colon did what a lot of Military men do. When your president calls you answer. Even if you do not expressly agree with your president.

I would have considered a McCain vote if he had not gone to crazy base-ville to get votes. He could have had a good solid 60% vote if he had take the center 60% and left the fringe left and radical right out of the equation. He was a maverick because it was moderate on many issues.

I know that with our primary system it is nearly impossilble for a true moderate candidate to win the primaries and that is a shame.
