Default You should have to pass a test to vote.

A simple test. maybe 3 questions. The test will list 3 ideas/policies, you have to choose which candidate stands for which policy. If you get 2/3 right your vote counts. if not, your vote does not count.

Just to prove you actually know what the fukc the election is about. Too many people get out and vote just to vote. When MTV has Rock the Vote and tells people to just go vote without informing themselves that is dangerous. You should be informed when you vote.

I know someone who is voting for Barack because she thinks he is cute. WTF is that about? what a waste of a vote. I remember hearing similar things when Clinton was elected. Another instance - Someone i know is voting for Barack because her parents are union and unions are generally democratic. Her parents said vote for Democrat so she is. it's ridiculous.

Or maybe we should have a credit rating! Under 700 and you can't vote! HA!

Yea, I think that there are too many people that do that. Leno just did a thing and asked people questions like how many states are there. People couldn't even get that right but they are gonna vote. Another one was how many senators are there? How many per state? They got them wrong. What the heck! Don't vote if you are that dumb.

I completely agree with the test idea. We have a girl at work who is the loudest voice for Obama there. I was talking to a customer about the economy one day while watching the market slide and she comes up and listens for a minute and says "Is it worse than just the mortgage foreclosures?"

She is also a person who made a statement that she would need to get a loan in order to pay her bills. Yep, I bet that would really change a lot of things huh?

While I do agree that an uninformed voter is as dangerous to democracy as an appethetic voter.

There is nothing that can be done about it because all citizens have the right to vote.

And actually at the presidential level we do have protections from the uninformed voter.
The presidential election is not a popular vote it is of the electoral college.

I wonder how many people voted for W because his dad was Pres too?

Uninformed voters suck
Apathetic voters suck
and I'll throw in that single issue voters suck too.

That's half correct. We vote on the members of the electoral college. Once the popular vote is determined, the "winner" of each state receives the votes from the delegates in that state. For example, Michigan has 17 delegates. If McCain were to have the popular vote in Michigan, all 17 delegates automatically vote for McCain in the electoral college. Most states are "all or nothing" in that ALL delegates go towards the popular vote, but some are still done on a percentage of total votes. The number of delegates is determined by 2 for each Senator (2 senators per state), combined with one delegate for every representative in the House (MI has 13 currently, based upon population in the state).

It's popular vote, but the battle is won primarily in the larger states. For example, California with it's 55 votes. This is why you can see the popular voting map be primarily one party, but somehow the other party wins.

There is the concept of faithless delegates in the Electoral College. Some states require the delegate to vote for the winner of the popular vote in that state but not all.

It is primarily the wrath of the 2 parties that keep delegates in line as faithless delegates are more likely to be punished by their respective parties/nominee than by state law, and federal laws governing faithless delegates have been struck down by the Supreme Court as the delegates are acting as representatives of the states.

While unlikely, if such a terrible nominee won the general election the Electoral College could simply, not vote them into office.

You don't have to know how many states or senators there are to know that the economy sucks and you want to buck the trend.

Your lack of intelligence (and those like you) will be what gets us a racist, socalist, and elitist president.

Way to go, dumbass.

Brilliant comment considering you do not know me and have no idea of my background, education or work and life experience. If you did, you would quickly realize how foolish your comment is.

Your way to defensive, when you relax you throw out some awsome points, but when you get defensive you sound like your trying so hard to pat yourself on the back.

I think your smarter than that.

But then Im a dumb ass.....
