how well would a explorer hold up with stock gearing 8.8 rear end and the A4LD tranny...with 33s.....lots of strain?

i do just fine with 3.73s........just make sure you have a large tranny cooler. The A4LD breaks down and grenades itself quick if you over heat it.

heres my 4dr with 3.73s 33's and A4LD

my truck is tired.......180K on motor and unkown miles on the trans

not sure what the gears are...whatever stock is...its an Eddie Bauer if that helps..i can check the code tomorrow...can you buy larger tranny coolers? where? how much, easy install??

i got mine from napa, was like $50-60 and was pretty easy install once you pull the grille off. Tranny cooler is an absolute must with a A4LD even a stock truck needs a better one then the factory offered

or their is a tag ont he axle itself being held on by a diff cover bolt that says the ratio

my tag shows 3L73

i can vouch with a good tranny cooler and rad bypass an A4ld will hold up.. Im running 37s locked front and rear with 4.56s with a 4.0 and the a4ld..

yeah dude like what cheapthrills says 3.73 will do, 4.10's even better..if u have lower than 3.73 its going to be a dog and will want to regear. I have a 3.73 pig if ur interested in it.
