Default 1983 CJ7 build (the-sandman's)

I bought this jeep
http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/showthread.php?t=103709

then found it to be a basket case, with numerous problems and issues like

Lights didnt work
wipers didnt work
most electrical stuff didnt work (bad grounds everywhere was the reason)
no gauges worked, once they did i had little to no oil pressure
t-case wont shift into 4 wheel
no front driveshaft
rear driveshaft needs shortened
dash and gauges bent and smashed (why?)
windshield frame rotten and glass broken
s10 bucket seats
dry and detriorating gel coat on fiberglass tub....glass still real nice so i want to protect it

so many things i wanted changed like the seats, the dash, the gauges

but in truth it is a rock solid frame, good body, nice soft top with a solid drivetrain - has a freshly rebuilt 304 with headers, flowmasters, a holley carb, an edelbrock intake, a mild cam and msd ingnition...runs awesome

this thing does have a lot of potential, just needs work

these are pics of it when i bought it....more to come

Looks like you come along nicely since buying it!

Did you sell the D44's?

Yes, i did sell the d44's to PPKPRINCE....

he found out only the front axle had new gears, the rear had the original 355's...and the front was 4.10 not 456...so i am not sure if he is going to use them, he might resell them

John must have sold the the 4:56 gears for these then as they were installed in those housings here. I found the original work order the other day while looking for something else. Good work on getting this Jeep back in shape

Every time i look at this jeep i find something else cool that i missed when i bought it....

it has
a Shackle reversal kit
all new polyurethane bushings
4" doestch suspension lift
2" PA body lift
Painless Wiring kit
3" flowmaster dual exhaust
arp rod bolts, new pistons, trw rods

The previous owner put alot of good parts and hard work into this jeep, and now i am continuing his project...

I have replaced the oil pan gasket, rebuilt the oil pump, and also put in the bull tear midplate kit.

I plan to only use Wix 51258 Oil filter, as suggested by bull tear industries

here is a couple more pics

Nice looking project.

I'd think that the D20 w/PTO would be pretty desirable for the right crowd (fleabay). I'd think about pulling it out to sell off and sticking something "normal" in there and making some coin in the process.
