Default 4.3 vortec

_Post for my father in law_

Is it possible to have a 4.3 vortec dist off a tooth?

Installed new crate motor and not getting the mileage was before and slight shake when at idle.....

Please help!

I'd check vacuum lines first. If its TBI remember to check the timing you will need to short the pins out on the connector, just like you are reading trouble codes.

He will need to have the timing set with a scanner. But yes you can be a tooth off. You will also need to have the crank variation reset.

If this is an OBD 2 system.

not sure if this tells if it is the system you are referring to but, It has the cap on it where the wires go out to the side and the distributor has a pin that locks it in only one position so it can not be turned.
