Sleazy Michigan Democrat tactics.. you will love this!

Walking the streets of East Lansing this weekend, lots of students out getting people registered to vote, great.

Passed one african american student who was doing this, asked my girlfriend if she was voting for Obama this election, she said she had not made up her mind yet but was leading towards McCain.

He said thanks, have a nice day, then walked away.

Happened 2 more times that day with different students "making a difference"

Well then you must not want to vote very bad then. You can also register at your city or township office.

So they go register new voters, no bigee. It's perfectly legal, and they've done that as long as I've been alive.

More concerning is their practice of rounding up the homeless, feeding them, and hauling them to the polls with pictorial instructions how to pull the party ticket lever. Likewise doing so with senile dementia patients in nursing homes. I think a ride and meal qualifies as "paying voters".

Last Presidential election, I had to endure the insults of NAACP "poll monitors" watching for someone attempting to deny the three black voters on GI access to the polls...

And my daughter is one of those walking around East Lansing signing up voters. It's for some bed-wetting liberal outfit, but they pay well. And this way, conservatives will get signed up as well.

The other day a lady came around the dorms here asking if I supported Obama, I said no, then she asked if my roommate did, I shut the door.

How is this sleazy?

They are encouraging people to vote, a very patriotic thing to do in November, regardless who you vote for.

Somebody asked your girlfriend a question and was polite. Wow, talk about sleaze.

Were these people actual state officials? Isn't it true that only State Officials, in thier official capacities, can actually register people to vote?

Were these people helping others register, or encouraging them? If so, then they were helping those that would help thier party. I am sure the other side does the same thing.

They were not doing anything illegal (from the description) and were being polite. Yep, sleazy as hell.

Whats sleazy about it is that he asked her who she was voting for, and when she gave the wrong answer, he walked away and didn't give her a chance to register. At least thats what i got from the story.

The same thing happened 4 years ago at OSU when I was there.

That is why I was asking if this person can actually oficially "register" a voter or not. Or if they are only filling thier own database with names. If he is acting in an official capacity for the state of Michigan to register voters, and not doing it, then yes, it is sleazy, not to mention illegal.

And she, like any other eligable person has every opportunity to register at several Official Government facilities in thier home town, So, no ones "chance to register" was taken away.

Not having been there I can only assume a lot of what was happening. It seems that this was probably a voter drive by one party to get people to vote for thier candidate, not an Official Voter registration activity.
