Thumbs up Can we have this?

It works very well and would also solve the issue of n00b-ish people not being able to find their own threads in the Marketplace due to not being skilled with the Advanced Search Function.

Consider it a "benchmarking" exercise. I'd rather have it here than go someplace else to use it. My preference is to sell locally and have people in Michigan benefit from the parts.

Here's another good one. The drop-down is even already in place in the Marketplace. The "Sold" choice would just have to be added. This would simplify the process of marking items sold and increase the number of people who actually do it correctly. It would also make it very easy for the Marketplace Mod to search for sold items, as all they would do is sort for that particular prefix.

You also can't submit the thread without entering a price, which would also cut down on that problem in the Marketplace. Don't know if that had to be coded manually, or what.

I like it. I inquired about something someone had for sale only to find out that it had been gone for weeks. When I told him he hadn't updated his thread yet, he asked me to tell him where it was and how he could do it. After I explained it to him he still did it incorrectly.

I like that stuff, good plan.

CC, are you listening?

Maybe you should remove the post limit time for subscribers as well.

I wasn't going to bring that one up this time since it has its own thread, but I just paid over there and no longer have a post time limit.

The payment was primarily driven by the incredibly small PM limit (20) on free accounts. It was making business deals extremely hard to keep track of. Personally, I would consider a benchmark like that one as well - but perhaps not quite that small. I think that one was excessive.

If you lower the PM limits and remove the post time limit, you may see a jump in subscribers since they would associate the subscription with some actual benefits. (Right now its a bit fuzzy.) That in turn may allow some easing of the Vendor fees, which have been a sore point with some people who have been around for a long time? 31 subscribers = 1 Vendor. Considering how many Vendors there are vs. how many members there are (and the rate at which new members join), which is more likely to happen realistically?

I must have gotten grandfathered in or something over there since I have been there since just after that board started. I have never paid, yet I have a 50 PM limit and avatar and signature... it says a free member is a 5 pm limit

Yes, they were running a special membership drive just before they put the hurt on. I got in at $100 for the Lifetime Membership, which jumped up to $150 after the special was over.

You'd think that the high restrictions and horrible tech would drive people away, but nooooo..... Many people just pony up for the Annual Membership. I'll be blunt - the functionality and lack of restrictions is nice.

The addition of the Search Function in PM's is nice, but it took over a year to get it after some kind of search/sort was requested. We still have a 7-second post time limit (and IIRC a PM time limit) which I just don't understand. Doesn't matter if its one second or thirty seconds - I don't see the point in restricting Subscribers with an anti-spam provision. Other sites seem to have it set up as a group permission for subscribers which automatically goes into effect when you pay. That doesn't make it look like its an issue of being labor-intensive to remove the restriction from each paying individual.

Top. I'm really beginning to like this. Jeepforum has alot of real cool thread tools.

Too bad most of my tech threads never get a response over there since it's not run of the mill problems.

Except for that whole ongoing "no bumping" debacle. I can't seem to figure out what the upside of that would be so I can understand the motivation.

They have a "My Classifieds" tool now that is located right next to "My Topics". Links to all your Classifieds also show up in your profile and other places, as well.

No. Its been a little over a year, so "My Topics" is eligible to be implemented now.
