A few CR250 questions

I have a 91 CR250 and just got a Clymer manual for it. It says runs a BR8EG, and I have been running br8es plugs, does it really Matter that much? Also been running 40:1 and it is recommending 20:1 which sounds way to rich to me. Last thing is it says run 1040 and I was told at the bike shop to run 80 weight. So what is better what I have been doing or what the clymer manual say?

The BR8EG is a gold electrode, I believe. The BR8ES is a perfect (and cheap) alternative.

As far as oil, it depends on how you ride it, but 40:1 is an excellent ratio for a 250. As far as trans fluid, no matter what is recommended in a 2-stroke, I always run ATF Type F in them.

alot of guys run 50:1 in their bikes, but 40:1 is a good mixture because it is better to have a little more oil than not enough.

BR8EG is a more quality plug, thus cost a few bucks more. They run 5 bucks at my local shop where BR8ES run bout 3 bucks.

40:1 is perfect , like you guys said

Ive always ran 80w90 gear lube in 2 stroke machines, Spectro brand.

40-1 but make sure you are running something like belray klotz or something like that.....you cant just pick up any 2 stroke oil and run it that lean ...you will get mixed opnions on what oil to run but what i would say is go to your local bike shop and see what the guys that work on them say as they see any bad problems and such then go and see what oil they carry and then make your decision then....


as with anyone else i run either belray or klotz r-50 or klotz beanol...i have also run golden spectro and have had no problems with any of those oils ...

good info on the plugs and oil for you 2smokers :) The trans oil is what I am interested in, 80W seems like it would not be good for colder climates and ATF? What is the advantage over 10W30?

It's thin, cheap, high detergent and made for use with wet clutches.
