hey nuz, i've been searching the same thing over on IFSJA this morning.

it seems a GM CS-144 is an easy swap (still trying to figure out what vehilce it came on etc) and you should be able to easily make it work by simply swapping pulleys

Interesting if I can make a GM alt work easily. I saw a 140amp Alt to fit GMs on Summit for like $129...

I usually just get them at AZ with the lifetime warranty and swap them out after I drown them

That place kicks ass. Just got off the phone with the dude. Told him I needed an Alt to fit a 4.2L out of a 85 CJ7 and he pointed me right to this

http://www.motorcityreman.com/gm-1wirecs130.html

Said it'll convert me to a 1 wire but that it'd bolt right up. They'll send it with a pulley for serpentine too. $135 for a 160 amp.

Might just have to pick that up

If you search Pirate, somebody determined that the high-output alternators used on the Rams with service packages were also used on late XJ's (and other vehicles) and have a much cheaper price than if you go to the counter and ask for the Ram unit.

The link you found sounds pretty good, but at what rpm does it hit peak? What's it kick out at idle?

Not sure about peak... Here is what they say for idle regarding all their MAXX High Performance Alternators

Quote:
160 amp units will put out 70-80 amps at idle
